Owing to expected demand, this will be a ticket-only event. Ticket sales start on 14th December in Hartley Hall. See more info. below.

15 March 2018 Monthly Meeting Talk. You will be aware that the talk will be given by John Bercow, Speaker of the House of Commons. We anticipate a large audience and so this will be a ticket-only event. Tickets (a nominal 1.00) will go on sale at the 14 December MM in Hartley Hall and also at the Jan. & Feb. 2018 MMs; so there should be ample opportunity for you to purchase tickets. We have moved the meeting venue from Hartley Hall to the hall at the Mill Hill United Synagogue which is considerably bigger, accommodating up to 400.

NEW: COLLECTORS INTEREST GROUP This new Group intends to talk about and show things which members collect and how/why they started. Also to explain and exchange ideas about members collections which could be anything, e.g. stamps, coins, postcards, porcelain, glass, cigarette cards, records, books, model cars/trains, walking sticks, jewellery and so on. It might even inspire some to start collecting. The Group Leader, Stuart Trogal, plans to start on Tuesday 9 th January 2018, with subsequent meetings initially on 6 th February and 13 th March. Meeting will start at 3 p.m, lasting 1½ to 2 hours. The first meeting will be at Stuart s home and will subsequently be held in Members homes. MHU3A s JANUARY OUTING A GRAND TOUR OF THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL on Wednesday, 17th January 2018 at 11.30 An hour-long guided tour which includes most front-of-house areas, the auditorium, the gallery and the Royal Retiring Room. The Royal Albert Hall from Kensington Gardens. It has a capacity of up to 5,272 seats. The Hall is a registered charity held in trust for the nation and receives no public or government funding. Since its opening by Queen Victoria in 1871, the world's leading artists from many performance genres have appeared on its stage and it has become one of the UK's most treasured and distinctive buildings. The location of some of the most notable events in British culture, each year it hosts more than 390 shows in the main auditorium, including classical, rock and pop concerts, ballet, opera, film screenings with live orchestra, sports, award ceremonies, school and community events, charity performances and banquets. Designed by Rome Guthrie, construction was commenced in July 1928 and completed in 1929 on land leased on a 999 year agreement by Hendon Council. The Observatory was opened by the Astronomer Royal, Sir Frank Dyson, on October 8, 1929. The Observatory has been exclusively managed by University College London since 1951. It is a hands-on teaching observatory, part of the Astrophysics Group in UCL's Department of Physics and Astronomy. OUR FEBRUARY 2018 OUTING to London s Tudor Charterhouse, on Wednesday, 21 st February, 2018. An hour-long guided tour seeing the highlights of the Charterhouse Almshouses whose residents are known as Brothers. Visit the Great Hall where the Brothers sit together for their meals, the Great Chamber [Queen Elizabeth I held court during the first days of her reign here], the Wash-house Court associated with the medieval monks of the Charterhouse and Master s Court which reveals the opulence of Lord North s Tudor Mansion. Grab a bite to eat or a coffee at Thackeray s Café which is next door to the museum.
