Meeting Minutes by Bob Freeman/KD5PIX Meeting Minutes December 11 2008 The San Angelo Amateur Radio Club, Inc. December Eatin Meetin was held at the Twin Mountain Steak House with the expectation that all would enjoy themselves and have a good time. There were approximately 34 members and guests in attendance. A delicious meal was enjoyed by all. The primary reason for the December meeting is to vote for the officers for the coming year. The officers elected are as follows: President: Joe Kent/W5JBK Vice-President: Don Hejl/N5SVK Secretary/Treasurer: Bob Freeman/KD5PIX Activities Manager: Hughbert Robinson/KC5NPC Building & Grounds: Ron Mecklenburg/KD5WXJ Emergency Coodinator: Mike Dominy/KD5URW The nest order of business was discussion on repair of the Kenwood Model 840. There was a motion to repair the radio, the motion was seconded and carried. Gary Chaffin/W5ETJ has located a company very experienced with Kenwood products. Mike Dominy/KD5URW was selected to receive the coveted Spreader award and the trophy was be presented to him. Ham Of The Year was Buddy Parker/KD5SBE. Buddy has done much to not only promote the hobby of amateur radio, he has put many hours and energy into bringing the San Angelo Amateur Radio Club, Inc., into the public s eye. Now he is taking on the publishing of the Kilo-What. Wonder if he sleeps? The FCC is doing everything they can to make the transition from Analog to Digital as easy on folks as possible. They have asked the ARRL assist in this transition period. Hugbert/KC5NPC is the club s Ambassador. Ralph Stout/KA5ULE and Buddy Parker/KD5SBE volunteered to help. Certificates of Appreciation were given out by Joe Kent to various members for help at Field Day and the October Birthday Celebration. A special thanks is in order for the 2008 officers and others who helped ensure another successful year in keeping with our long tradition of public service and in the furthering of our hobby. Good of the Order The Split-the-Pot was worth $18.00 each to the club and to the winner Ron Speer/ KE5TXG. The next meeting of the San Angelo Amateur Radio Club, Inc. will be January 8, 2009 at 1930 at the clubhouse.
