5. Memorize accurately via the check-off system ** at the lessons. ** A song needs to be checked off before it can be performed on the Nov. 13 th concert. A Personal Project to be done in January 2012 2. ASTACAP Exam March 4 2012

The PERSONAL PROJECT will be as follows: 1. Each student (with parents help) will plan a short formal recital. This can be a solo recital, or it can be planned together with a sibling or friend(s). It should be at least 20 minutes long! 2. This recital will have a formal program, checked by Dorée by Dec. 1 st. 3. Parents will arrange for a place to play. Here are some ideas: a)at church; b) as a home concert with people invited for a concert and reception; c) busking for money at a Starbucks, in a mall, in a store---just ask permission from the managers beforehand-- they love it, as it brings in business! d) in a retirement or assisted living home, or a rehabilitation center; e) as a school performance; etc. 4. Optional but highly encouraged: Parents will arrange for a piano accompanist, or another instrument to accompany (violin, guitar, accordion, keyboard). Dorée will provide a list of pianists. You must find the pianist/accompanist, and provide him/her with the dates of rehearsals and performance and all music--well in advance. 5. This PERSONAL PROJECT PLAN is due on December 1 st and then students will present their plans, as well as a few pieces as a preview at the GROUP LESSON ON DECEMBER 8. 6. The Personal Project Recital will be performed in January, when Dorée is away. It must be documented with photos or video or both. A short report will be given by each student at the group lesson on February 16, 2012. The ASTACAP EXAM March 4, 2012 2:30-6:30 P.M. This is the American String Teachers Association Certificate Advancement Program Exam, a comprehensive 10-level standardized exam which Huneven Studio students take yearly. Dorée will help each student to set up their exam content by December 20, and to prepare for the exam between February 1 and March 4. For detailed information about the exam, please go to: http://www.asta.net/certificateprogram.php SPRING UNIT 2012 March 5 to May 20, 2012 Dates to record: March 15, April 19, May 3 6:30-8:00 Group Lessons, Temple Beth Ami, Room 6-7 May 17 6:30-8:00 Dress Rehearsal, Temple Beth Ami Chapel May 20, Sunday 6:30-8:00 21 st Annual Childreach Concert, Chapel OVERALL PLAN OF THE UNIT Each student will do two things in the May concert: play 1-2 group duets, and do a Major Solo piece. Moreover, all families having 2 or more children studying with me will do a family number to end the concert. In addition, at the group lessons, each group will sight read duets at the level of the students for reading practice and learning for the future.
