4 INTRODUCTION
AN ORIGINAL CONCEPT This interactive journey - which was specially created to present Joan of Arc s saga - is a feat of technology and innovation laced with emotion. The aim of the Historial is to meet two needs: to present Joan of Arc s era but also to discover her legend, using the most advanced multimedia technologies along with spectacular scenography. This contemporary and innovative staging, shaking up the traditional perception of a historic monument, positions the Joan of Arc Historial as a New Museum by using modern techniques and relying on a comprehensive programme which encourages contemplation. Witnesses, reconstructions and audiovisual effects take you on an unusual experience which dives into the 15th century. From her military actions to retake the French throne to her ordeal at the stake, you will experience an epic and captivating story at the heart of a historic monument. A UNIQUE & IMMERSIVE SPECTACLE The Joan of Arc Historial welcomes groups all year round for an unmissable visit through an interactive journey and a tour adapted to your needs. A visit to the Historial takes place in two parts. Visitors first discover the history of La Pucelle in the six rooms of the Rouen Archbishop s Palace, following her pardon proceedings led by Jean Juvénal des Ursins. The audiovisual equipment provided in the building help present a lively and immersive history. Then, through different multimedia equipment, you will discover three rooms dedicated to the posterity of Joan of Arc and the debates and works that she inspired. 5
