3 Getting started: If the screen on the AMX panel is blank, then touch anywhere to wake it. Press the button at the bottom to activate the popup keypad below. To log onto the touch panel, enter the 4-digit code provided by Instructional Media Services (I.M.S.) into the keypad, and then press enter. The following page will appear.

4 Turning the Data Projector on: On the left of the AMX screen, there should be three icons under the heading of Projector (ON, OFF and BLANK). Press the ON icon and the following pop-up should appear. Please allow the projector to warm up completely. When the warm-up bar has filled, the box will close by itself. Using the Computer Located in the Console: (1) Once the data projector has been powered on, select the computer icon at the top of the AMX page. (2) Select the CONSOLE PC icon in the centre of the screen, and this will display the same image that is on the computer monitor located on the console. (3) Log on to the computer using the login information provided to you by CCS or IMS.

5 Using your laptop with the data projector in the room: (1)First, plug your VGA cable into the appropriate port on the connector plate on the top of the teaching console. (2)If you also require sound, then plug your cable into the AUDIO (mini) input. (3)If you need to use the Internet, plug an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet jack. the console. (4) Once the data projector has been powered on, select the COMPUTER icon at the top of the AMX page. (5)Select the LAPTOP icon in the centre of the screen, and this will display the same image that is on your laptop. If your laptop does not automatically send its video signal to the data projector, you may need to manually output the video signal. If you require assistance in doing this, call ext. 3815 from the phone inside Using the Document Camera: The document camera is located behind the left cabinet door of the teaching console. (1) Pull out the sliding drawer and lift on the large plastic ring to raise the camera arm to a vertical locked position. (2)Rotate the camera head so that the lens is pointing down at the work surface (3)Press the power button at the top left of the work surface.

6 (4)With the projector ON, press the CAMERA button from the computer page. The projector should now display whatever is placed on the flat work surface of the document camera. When you are finished, press the power button on the document camera to turn it off. Rotate the camera head to a flat position, and pull on the large plastic ring to lower the camera arm flat. Close the sliding drawer and lock up the cabinet door. If you require any assistance, please call extension 3815 from the phone inside the teaching console. To adjust the volume in the room, slide your finger up or down the MAIN bar, located on the bottom, right corner of the AMX screen. Pressing the mute icon mutes the volume. In order to adjust the microphone volume, use the bar labeled MIC. When you are finished in the room, please ensure that both MIC and MAIN volumes are reduced as a courtesy to the next user. Adjusting the Volume: Things to remember when using the microphone: 1. If the battery light on the belt-pack is green you will have enough power to conduct your lecture. If the light is red, switch to the alternate belt-pack in the charging base or call I.M.S. at extension 3815

7 2. Clip the microphone to your shirt, just below your throat and make sure there is nothing covering it. 3. Please turn the microphone off when you are done, and always return the belt-pack to the charging base inside the console to replenish the battery charge. Blanking the Projected Image: With the data projector powered on, press the BLANK button to temporarily blank the projected image. Press it again to restore the image. Using the VCR: Before beginning, make sure that the data projector has been powered on, and that the MAIN volume on the AMX panel has been reduced. (1) Insert the tape into the VCR side of machine (number 1 on diagram). (2) Select the VCR icon on the top of the AMX page, and the VCR controls will display. (3) Press the PLAY (>) icon in the centre of the screen to begin the VHS. The STOP, PAUSE, FFWD, and REW icons are also available on the

8 panel. If these do not function properly, try to use the buttons on the front of the VCR. Using the DVD player: Before beginning, make sure that the data projector has been powered on, and that the volume on the AMX panel has been reduced. (5)Select the DVD icon on the top of the AMX page to display the DVD controls. (6) Press the PLAY (>) icon in the centre of the screen to begin the DVD. The STOP, PAUSE, SKIP, and SEARCH icons are also available on the panel. If these do not function properly, try to use the controls located at the front of the DVD player. (1) Power the DVD player ON (by pressing button 1). (2) Press the DVD Open/Close button (labeled button 2 on diagram). (3) Place the DVD in the open disc tray (labeled number 3 on diagram). (4) Press the DVD Open/Close button to close the disc tray (number 2 on diagram). (7)To access the advance functions on the DVD player press the ADVANCED DVD CONTROL button. (8) From this menu, you can control subtitles, DVD menus, and change the display options. For more assistance with the advanced DVD features, please contact IMS at ext 3815. To go back to the first DVD page touch the PRESS TO CLOSE button.

9 Connecting an external VCR, camcorder or DVD player: (1) To connect an external VCR, camcorder or DVD player, you will need to use the RCA inputs on the connector plate on the top of the teaching console. (2) Press the ADVANCED icon on the AMX screen. (3) From the VIDEO INPUTS menu, select the AUX icon. (4) To return to other AMX pages (such as VCR or COMPUTER), just press one of the icons at the top of the AMX panel. Note: If you are hooking up any auxiliary equipment, please ensure that you have appropriate cables. Some of these may be obtained in advance from IMS. (1) Select the OFF icon in the projector section of the AMX screen. Please allow the Data Projector to cool down completely. When the cool-down bar has filled, the box will close by itself. (2) Press the EXIT icon at the top, right of the AMX panel when you are done. Turning the Equipment Off:

10 (3) Ensure that any cables, microphones, or mice that you may have been using have been placed back inside the cabinet. (4) Lock up the equipment cabinet, and remember to take your key. For further assistance, please call ext 3815 from the phone located inside the teaching console.
