(Connotation/Denotation activities in Milestone Prep folder if you desire to use them.) Nonfiction Article (KG): Sex of Babies We will read the article together once as a class. Afterwards, students will conduct another reading where they will annotate the article completely, looking for any information they deem especially important or pivotal. Students may use highlighters, pens, etc. to annotate. When they have finished annotating, students will respond to the RACE writing prompts on the bottom of the article, making sure to cite evidence they ve highlighted as support for their argument. Day 3: Bell Ringer: Parts of Speech Packet Review Reading Fiction: The School Teacher will read the story aloud, pausing where it is indicated in the copy of the story. When teacher pauses reading, students will answer questions in the activity. Some questions are comprehension based, inference based, connotation vs. denotation, or vocabulary in context. Additionally, there are writing prompts, both predictive, and narrative. Bell Ringer: Skills Review Milestone Skills Review Students will be given a list of Milestone skills that have been reviewed in the pullout class, as well as taught in regular class. Students will mark which ones they are still unsure about; going through the list as a class, teacher will review each skill individually, having students take notes on a separate sheet of paper. Day 10: May 10th TBD based upon performance on Milestone practice test/class progress thus far. Students will test during class on this day.
