About: Grand Finale Program: Anton Arensky s Variations on a Theme of Tchaikovsky Op. 35a was written as a tribute to the great Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky after his death in 1894. It was based on his song Legend: Christ in his Garden, the fifth of Sixteen Children s Songs, Op. 54. It will be followed by USA premiere of the Jacques Loussier s Violin Concerto No. 2 with Percussion (2006), featuring State Soloist of Romania violinist, Alexandru Tomescu. This concerto was commissioned by the Menuhin Festival. In acknowledgement of Menuhin s fascination with Indian music, Tabla is featured with opportunities for improvisation. Program closes with various Dances & Romances from the heart of the Old World, and famous Hungarian Rhapsody N 2 by Liszt. ipalpiti Artists International: ipalpiti Artists International, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1997 by Eduard and Laura Schmieder, internationally renowned violinists and music educators. With the support of distinguished legendary musicians, ipalpiti discovers and promotes talented young professional artists from around the globe. ipalpiti [pronounced ee-pahl-pit-ee, is Italian for heartbeat] like a Pulse of Music. The ipalpiti Orchestra, founded by Eduard Schmieder in 1991, became the flagship ensemble of ipalpiti Artists International. ipalpiti s humanitarian mission of cultural exchange succeeded in creating a truly universal network of more than 200 artists from all over the world, promoting international and cultural understanding through music.
