It involves HOW something is said rather than WHAT is said. Style is how the author uses literary devices to create tone and mood. Sentence: I found the author s craft in The Hobbit to include lots of overly complicated plot details.

Select at least 3 tone words that best express the author s attitude. Identifying Tone in Text Read each statement. Decide if the tone is positive, negative, or neutral. Underline details (descriptive words, character s thoughts, character s actions, sensory and figurative language) that help convey tone in the passage.
