This copy has a small label pasted onto the free endpaper with the inscription: To Thomas James Serle Esquire With the Sincerest regard of an ancient friend and Fellow Labourer The Author. This was the first volume of plays in verse published in Australia and the third volume of verse published in Tasmania. David Burn emigrated to Tasmania in 1826 after serving in the navy, and became active in Tasmanian public affairs, notably in the movement for the cessation of transportation. He later moved to Sydney and to New Zealand where he engaged in journalism, dying at Auckland in 1875. #64277 A$3500.00
