The standard of string playing here at the Preparatory School is exceptional from boys who learn internally and externally. Well done and thankyou to all Instrumental String Staff who guide and nurture the boys in their love of learning so diligently and in particular to Ms Welsh for accompanying the boys at this event. It was simply and outstanding concert.
Theory Break-Up Party Yesterday the thirty Theory of Music boys had a lunchtime break-up party to celebrate the end of their course for this year. The exam was held towards the end of August and we look forward sharing their success once the results have been received. Thanks again to Mrs Trynes for all her work with the boys in their preparation and to all the parents throughout the year for providing the delicious food.

This new and exciting ensemble will rehearse on Wednesday afternoons from the start of Term 4 with Mrs Tripolone in Studio 1 from 3:15pm-3:45pm. Please email your expression of interest to Mrs Tripolone or Mrs Campbell. Bucket Drumming Year 6 have really enjoyed learning the technique of Bucket Drumming which is enabling them to develop aural skills by exploring, imitating and recognising the elements of music of rhythm, pitch and dynamics. This experience will assist their learning as they move into a Rock Music Unit next term.
Discontinuation of Instrumental Lessons A reminder that four weeks term time notice is required to be given in writing to the Director of Preparatory School Music if you intend to cease Instrumental Music lessons. Denham Court Scholarship Applications from boys currently in Year 5 who learn an orchestral instrument either internally or externally are invited to apply for the Denham Court Scholarship for 2019. The minimum audition level is AMEB Grade 3 or equivalent. Application forms are available from the Music Centre and are due on Monday 29th October. No late entries will be accepted. Once applications have been received, you will be notified of the piano accompaniment rehearsal and audition time. Ms Welsh will be the official accompanist for the Scholarship auditions. The Auditions will be held on Tuesday 13th November 2018 in the Mozart Room.
