Typically, the References page is always the last page of an APA document. The word, References, appears centered on the top of the page. The bibliographic citations on the References page are alphabetized by the last name of the author. In most cases, even the authors in each bibliographic citation are alphabetized as well. AUTHOR LISTING Last Name, Initials. (1 author) Last Name, Initials. & Last Name, Initials. (2 authors) Last Name, First Initial, Last Name, Initials., and Last Name, Initials. (up to 5 authors) Last Name, Initials., et al. (more than 6 authors) Corporation/Organization/Institution/Association. If you are missing a middle initial of the author, then having the first initial only is acceptable. Johnson, E. Merrick, J. Johnson, E. & Merrick, J. Johnson, E., Merrick, J., and Lewis, C. Johnson, E., et al. TITLES Titles of short works (articles, essays, etc.) and books do not require full capitalization (only the first letter of the title is capitalized). Furthermore, short titles do not require quotation marks. Titles of books appear in italics. Titles of Journals are fully capitalized and usually appear in italics.

When you capitalize a title, you should capitalize all of the words, except for conjunctions and prepositions (unless they appear on the beginning or the end of the title, then they are capitalized). Title (Vol. #) Title (Vols.#-#) DIFFERENT EDITIONS Editions are listed after the title of the book in parentheses. Title (Edition). TRANSLATORS Name of translators are listed after the title of the book in parentheses. The Initial then the Last Name appear with a comma and the abbreviation Trans. Title (Author, Trans). SOURCES WITH NO DATE Write (n.d.) SOURCES WITH NO AUTHOR Begin with the title and end with a period. DOI OR- URL Some online documents come with a Digital Object Identifier number (or doi).
