Policy on Recognition for Published Papers - 2018 Aim: To encourage an academic milieu in the organization by recognizing publication of papers in reputed peer reviewed journals by consultants, junior medical staff and nursing staff. Scope: Senior consultants, consultants, junior medical staff and nursing staff across Apollo Hospitals. Faculty and junior medical staff of the medical colleges of Apollo Hospitals. Proposal: The finest healthcare institutions in the world have been built on the three pillars of clinical excellence, academics and research. Rapid developments in the field of healthcare are changing the face of healthcare all over the world today. Apollo Hospitals has seen a similar rapid transition in healthcare delivery in the twenty-five years since its inception. It has been our endeavour not only to be a part of the change, but to be a pioneer of the change in healthcare delivery in India. A due emphasis on academics and research leads the way for this change. Apollo Hospitals encourages its staff to undertake research activities in their areas of expertise. It supports the effort of its staff and recognizes their achievements in publishing research papers. Apollo has academic programmes in most of its specialties and its own Apollo Medicine Journal. Conferences, symposia and continuing medical education programmes are organized regularly to help keep the staff abreast with the latest developments. Impact factor is one of the quantitative tools for ranking, evaluating, categorizing and comparing journals. It is a measure of the frequency with which the average article in a journal has been cited in a particular year or period. The annual impact factor is a ratio between citations and recent citable items published. Thus, the impact factor of a journal is calculated by dividing the number of current year citations to the source items published in that journal during the previous two years.

Calculation for journal impact factor: A= total cites in 2017 B= 2017 cites to articles published in 2015 and 2016 (this is a subset of A) C= numbers of articles published in 2015 and 2016 D= B/C = 2017 impact factor Journal Citation Report includes a table of the relative rank of journals by Impact factor, in each specific science discipline.
