1. VU Score Sec. 5.1-10 x30 generally refers to the older light bulb technology scoreboards, which needed more face room; most of your newer LED digit scoreboards are 8 tall. May I assume an 8 x30 minimum is acceptable? 2. VU Score Sec. 5.2.1-30 tall refers to the incorporated DOG (Delay of Game)/Play Clock Timer digit height, correct? This would not be an ETN size. 3. VU Score Sec. 5.2.2- this is 14x112 resolution is a minimum 22mm instead of 2mm (which is not a pixel pitch anyone has for outdoor), correct? 4. VU Score Sec. 7.2- you call out paint. As you know, so many of the local area s older scoreboards were paint and have faded horribly over the years. I would highly recommend changing this to powder coat to maintain long-life for your color and vibrancy. All the suppliers can provide that upon demand. 5. VU Score Sec. 6.3- A 200 x 380 is only 10.5 x 19.9, but you mention a 12 x 23 on 6.1. A 12.1 x 23.1 is a 232 x 440 (all the various suppliers modules are typically based on increments of 8, so you should stay within those parameters) 6. VU Score Sec. 6.5- every supplier can provide either regular or fanless power supplies, but for outdoor Georgia temps encased in giant black boxes, you want as much airflow has possible since power supplies are typically the weakest link in an LED video system for failure rates. I, personally, would remove this from the spec. Convection (fanless) cooling is fine for the further north climes, but can create long-term nightmares down here in Hotlanta as the display ages. North Cobb requires a 10 tall x 30 wide fixed digit scoreboard as a minimum. Section 5.2 reference 30 Tall Character Height. Character Height should be industry standard for scoreboards integrating the information presented in this section. Reference 22mm pixel pitch should be the minimum and/or the pixel pitch should reflect industry standard for the proposed resolution for this type of display board. Reference Powder coating is not mandatory for the scoreboard. 12 x 23 is listed as an approximation, each vendor should provide a videoboard of no less than the stated size. Pixels should match the size of the proposed videoboard. The minimum resolution for the 16mm display should be 240 pixels high x 440 pixels wide. North Cobb requires the video screen incorporate fanless power supplies. Page 1 of 5
7. VU Score The vendor will pull the fiber optic cable from the press box thru the existing smaller conduit that currently houses the old coaxial cable to the display, correct? 8. VU Score Due to the positioning of the scoreboard, the game clocks will need to be positioned closer/behind to the goal posts for team visibility. The bid spec calls for the north end zone clock to be located on the bottom ad panel; however, it will not be optimal in that position. The south end zone is a portable clock; do you want to make the north end zone clock portable as well, or do you prefer both to be permanently pole mounted? 9. VU Score Will vendor be required to provide additional electrical service to those game clock locations, or are 110V electrical outlets readily accessible? 10. VU Score As per 5.2.1, Field Timers will be 30 digits in same LED lamp color as scoreboard game clock digit, correct? 11. VU Score The old poles and scoreboard will be fully removed from the premises by vendor. 12. VU Score Pending installation deadline will be Aug 1st with first use scheduled for Aug 17 th. 13. VU Score Is the 60A single-phase 240V fully functional with clean power to the location? Game clocks will be removed from the specification. Reference Game clocks will be removed from the specification. Reference Field timers are not included in this solicitation. Reference Yes per solicitation requirements. As stated in the solicitation, August 1 st is the installation deadline. Per discussions in the pre-proposal conference, August 17 th is the first scheduled use of the field. 14. Daktronics Where is the new proposed location of the video board? The Football field located at North Cobb High School, 3400 Old 41 Highway NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. 15. Daktronics Who is to provide Surface protection if track is crossed? The awarded vendor will coordinate all track access and protection requirements with the designated contact at North Cobb High School. Page 2 of 5
16. Daktronics What is our pathway to walk equipment and material to the proposed location? 17. Daktronics Who is to provide the primary Signal pathway/conduit from the control room to the base of the structure? 18. Daktronics Who is to provide Primary power to the base of the structure? 19. Daktronics If the primary power is on the subcontractor, where are we getting power from? i.e. where is the transformer or panel located? 20. VU Score and Formetco Any required permits will be issued from City of Kennesaw. The awarded vendor will coordinate all access to the job site with the designated contact at North Cobb High School. All permits are issued through the City of Kennesaw. 21. Daktronics Is this a tax exempt project? The contractor will need to pay sales tax if they normally pay tax to purchase items. We cannot provide a tax exempt form for their purchases. The turnkey cost they provide should include the total cost including any sales tax they paid associated with the items. The contractor is not allowed to charge sales tax when they sell the items to us. We can provide a tax exempt form, if needed, for their records. 22. Daktronics Is a bid bond required? A proposal/bid bond is not required. However, per sections 14.0 (Pg. 12) and 16.3 (Pg. 14) a Performance Bond and Payment Bond for the full amount of the awarded project is required. Please reference these sections for details and deadlines. 23. Multiple Who is responsible for the fiber pull to the structure? The awarded contractor. 24. Formetco Will the current control system be used for audio/video? Yes. All controls for the scoreboard should be located in the Press Box. Video Broadcasting should be located both the Press Box and Video Production area. 25. DeNyse Should the bottom of the structure be above the current height of the hedges? Yes. Page 3 of 5
26. VU Score Due to the approximate 38 height of the full structure and the desire to have the bottom ad panel at least 10 off the ground, will the over-hanging tree branches be trimmed back to allow for plenty of unobstructed clearance? 27. VU Score As per press room discussions, you will need a minimum number of inputs/outputs for current and future expansion. This would include your track timing and scoring system, audio out, and a to be determined total number of potential camera positions (typically three), correct? 28. VU Score Since resolution is more important than sizing for image quality, to allow all the bidders true apples to apples equality in the bidding process, may we assume you will require a minimum 224 x 432 resolution of 96,768 true 16.0mm pixels for an 11.8 x 22.6 dimension display? 29. VU Score What color LED digits do you prefer for the scoreboard? White, red, amber, green? 30. VU Score As per 7.1, both the aluminum logo can and lettering must be backlit. Since there is a large pricing differential between types of channel letters, for this spec, may we assume 24 tall WARRIOR letters and 36 tall logo with standard 3 returns (sides) outlined with white vinyl trim overlaid school color? 31. VU Score Do you want the work-platform/catwalk to be accessible via permanent ladder attached to pole or via portable extension ladder? If you prefer permanent, do you require the vendor to affix some form of locking panel to prevent access by unauthorized persons? 32. VU Score For 5.2.2, 3 &4, assuming this is for the ETN display, 14x112 resolution 22mm pitch approx. 11 tall x 94 wide. Do you have a preferred lamp color for this as well? White, red, amber, green? North Cobb HS would prefer the height from ground to the bottom of the lower sponsor panel to be 7 high versus 10 high. North Cobb will remove any tree branches that would be in the way during construction. North Cobb is asking vendors to add a separate 4 input video switcher that has instant replay and simultaneous recording capability for all four inputs. This system will be separate from the video screen controller specified in the proposal specification. The screen controller will accept the direct feed from the added switcher and video replay machine. The minimum resolution for the 16mm display should be 240 pixels high x 440 pixels wide. Please quote amber LED scoreboard digits. Reference Please quote access via portable extension ladder. Please quote red LED team names. Page 4 of 5
33. Formetco Can you please confirm the power specs that are available at the existing scoreboard pole location? 34. Formetco Can you please confirm the scope of work for the scoreboard vendor for electrical hookup. i.e. Assuming adequate power is available at the scoreboard location, the vendors should provide a new disconnect at the base of the structure and then run new conduit and electrical cabling to the fixed digit scoreboard and video board above? 35. Formetco Can you please confirm that the assumption for vendors is that we are to reuse the existing 1 conduit coming out of the pressbox and it currently links to the 1 conduit at the existing scoreboard location? If so, vendors will pull new fiber optic cable through this existing conduit and terminate at the back of the video display. Page 5 of 5
