MTAC/OCN Piano Ensemble Festival December 10, 2016 Kim s Pianos The Piano Ensemble Fes*val was huge this year. There were 30 performing duets and one trio. The standing room only audience was very apprecia*ve. Students played well. All teachers par*cipated and were very helpful and prompt. Thanks to all of you for a great piano event! 2017 Styles Festival: Baroque Date: Saturday, January 28, 2017 Julie Neal msjulie@nealmusicinstrucjon.com Time: There will be two programs, 10 am and 11:30 am Place: Canyon Hills Presbyterian Church 190 S Fairmont Blvd Anaheim Hills, CA 92808 Fee: $25 per soloist, or ensemble group Teacher Par*cipa*on: Please be able to help with one of the one hour programs. This is highly desired! Otherwise, enclose a $25 non par*cipa*on fee. Applica*ons are due by: Friday, January 13 The applicajon is on the branch website. Schedule will be given by January 16. All Baroque composers, including Bach, are welcome. Soloists and ensembles may apply, please note that there is only one piano available. Students will be adjudicated and scored from 1-5 points. Comment sheets will be returned, so is an excellent prepara*on for CM. With con*nued yearly par*cipa*on, students will receive a trophy upon earning 15 points and may con*nue for a second or more trophy too. Ensemble points are counted separately from soloist points. Piano students must play from memory. The judge will need an original score to give an excellent adjudica*on. The *me limit is 5 minutes, feel free to make cuts, if necessary. Check the eligibility requirements listed below 2. Honors online registration procedure begins when you register student s repertoire online in January. 3. When you register the repertoire online, be sure to check the Honors box before submitting. Failure to check this box in January will disqualify your students from Honors. 4. Do not fill in the piece in the Honors category online. Leave blank. Evaluator decides the piece. 5. Email any questions to the committee co-chairs. The Certificate of Merit Honors Festival recital student requirements: (1) Registered at C/M Level lv through Advanced (2) Perform all C/M pieces well memorized (except where indicated in instrument syllabi) (3) Receive a rating of Well-performed for all pieces at evaluations (4) Receive a rating of Excellent or Good from five ratings for all required technique (5) Receive a rating of Excellent or Good from five ratings for sight reading exam (6) Achieve 80% or higher score on written theory and ear training exam (7) Receive a written piece recommendation from the C/M evaluator (8) Recommended piece received (from 1 to 5) the highest performance rating of 5-, 5, or 5+ (9) Recommended piece is no longer than 5 minutes in performance length (teachers are responsible to make a musical cut if longer than 5 min) 8 8
