We justly think a lot about recruitment, but sometimes overlook the importance of retaining the singers through all stages of your program. By seeking out intergenerational projects, conductors can strengthen bonds between the oldest and youngest in a given program, ease transition between the stages, and create lifelong musicians (and hopefully keep them in your choirs!) The gold standard for major intergenerational work, Britten's opera Noye's Fludde, will provide examples and concepts that can be applied to church, school, and community choirs.
