WELLINGTON EISTEDDFOD IMPORTANT NOTES 1. COPYRIGHT: The Law of Copyright applies to the Eisteddfod. It is the responsibility of each competitor to adhere to the act. Anyone in breach of the Act will not be able to perform. (i) Original music, poetry etc must be used for performance. If out of print, or in case of re-arranged or transposed music, a licensed stamped copy may be used. (ii) Copies of poetry etc will be accepted for the Adjudicator. Vocal & Instrumental Entrants only: Competitors may hand in photocopies of music for the Adjudicator, provided Form 2 is attached to each photocopy. If performing from memory, the original music must be handed in for the adjudicator. In case of the accompanist, copies may be used for easier turning but original music must also be brought on stage. Form 1 must be completed by each individual performer. (iii) All non-licensed copies will be destroyed after performance. If in doubt, please refer to AMCOS, PO Box 2135, North Sydney. 2059 2. COMPETITORS and their accompanist are admitted free of charge ONLY to the session in which they are competing. 3. SEASON TICKETS may be purchased for $25.00 and these will entitle the holder to attend any session during the eisteddfod performances (except the Grand Concert). A Day Ticket may be purchased and will entitle the holder to attend any or all sessions on one particular day. Session admission charges are: Day Ticket prices are: Adults $4.00 Adults $10.00 Age Pensioners $2.00 Age Pensioners $ 5.00 School Students $1.00 School Students $ 2.00 Children under school age Free Children under school age Free 4. THE EISTEDDFOD GRAND CONCERT will be held on Sunday, 18 th August, 2013 at 2.00 pm at the Wellington Civic Hall. Items will be selected by the adjudicators. The winners of all Scholarships must perform at the Grand Concert where prize money will be awarded. Non performance of scholarship winner will result in forfeiture of prize money. Schools please note that selected choirs or groups may be requested to participate in the Grand Concert. 4

GRAND CONCERT tickets will be available at the door. All children are required to have a seat. Grand Concert ticket prices are: Adults $10.00 Age Concession / Children $ 4.00 Family ticket $25.00 5. The Wellington Eisteddfod Society Inc is not registered for GST purposes. 6. DUPLICATION OF ITEMS: No individual may compete more than once in any class (including with a different partner or instrument in instrumental duets) or render the same item in more than one class. Dancers please refer to Rule 4 in the Dance Section of the Syllabus. 7. AWARDING OF PRIZES AND PLACES: (Rule 4 in Syllabus) Senior prizes and all Championships will be awarded as follows: Where one to three competitors perform in a class, 1st place may be awarded at the adjudicator s discretion. Where 4 or 5 competitors perform in a class, 1st & 2nd places may be awarded at the adjudicator s discretion. Where 6 or more competitors perform in a class, 1st, 2nd and 3rd places may be awarded. However, should performances in any given class not be of high enough standard, the adjudicator reserves the right not to award places or prizes. All competitors are bound by the rules governing entry and competition as set out in the syllabus. 8. ADJUDICATOR S REPORTS, certificates, medals, ribbons and banners will be available shortly after the conclusion of each class at the results table. 9. CHAMPIONSHIPS: There must be (2) two competitors for championship classes to be held. Competitors must complete qualifying conditions. Trophies will be awarded at the completion of the championships. 10. SCHOLARSHIP prize money will be awarded at the Grand Concert. 11. THE CHAIRPERSON is in complete control of each session. Any requests or appeals must go through the Session Registrar. 12. GROUPS: It is requested that a representative of each group or choir report to the Session Registrar prior to commencement of the class in which they are competing. 13. DOORS will be closed during the rendering of each item. 14. MOBILE PHONES / PAGERS are to be switched off prior to entering a 5

session. Failure to observe this rule by competitors, teachers, parents or guardians may result in your competitors disqualification. 15. CAMERAS, VIDEO CAMERAS and MOBILE PHONE CAMERAS are NOT PERMITTED. All performers will be videoed by RSVP with photographs, DVDs and videos available for purchase. 16. PLEASE OBSERVE STRICT SILENCE during items. Any movement or noise is disturbing to both the competitor and the adjudicator. 17. NO COMPETITOR, teacher, parent or relative of a competitor may approach the adjudicator. Any communication must be through the Session Registrar. Contents of this programme have been compiled as carefully as possible and with convenience to the competitor in mind. Please note that programme changes cannot be made. The Society reserves the right to alter the sequence of classes in any session or to rectify any errors or omissions which may appear. Wellington Eisteddfod Rotary Scholarships Rotary Scholarships are offered by the Wellington Eisteddfod Society Inc each year in Dance, Speech & Drama and Vocal & Instrumental sections The scholarships encourage participation and excellence in the Performing Arts. In awarding the scholarship, each adjudicator will be making judgment on the competitor s overall performance in the section entered and encouraging further studies in their chosen field. Wellington Performing Arts Scholarship This prestigious Scholarship is awarded to an outstanding Wellington and District student to encourage and assist with their future performing arts studies. Applicants must fulfil the following rules. 1. Be a resident of Wellington and District. 2. Aged between 13 and 25. 3. Study their field under a recognised or accredited teacher. 4. Future studies to be with an approved or recognised teacher. 5. Desirable if applicant performed in an Eisteddfod in 2013. 6. Complete an Application Form for entry. The Scholarship must only be utilised for payment of future studies in chosen field.
