FLORIDA ORCHESTRA ASSOCIATION Music Performance Assessment District 10 February 26-27, 2010 Titusville High School Ms. B.J. Butler, District Co-Chairman Ms. Jill Carrick, District Co-Chairman Mr. Paul Jackson, District Secretary Dr. Thomas Silliman, District Secretary Florida Association Mission Support, promote and expand school orchestra programs throughout the State of Florida. Provide support and training for members in teaching, leadership, and advocacy. Empower members through mentoring and continuing education.

Adjudicators Dr. Carlos Audi (Stage Adjudicator) Dr. Carlos Audi was born in Brazil where he started his music studies at the age of seven. He holds a Doctor of Music degree in cello performance from the Florida State University. Dr. Audi has been a member of several orchestras in Brazil and in the United States and is also very active as a cello and orchestra teacher. Currently, he is the cello instructor at Hillsborough Community College and Clearwater Christian College, and the orchestra director at McLane Middle School in Brandon, Florida. Ms. Kathy Cook (Stage Adjudicator) Ms. Kathy Cook is the high-energy Director at Braden River High school. She has been teaching orchestra students in Florida since 1989. Mrs. Cook received her B.S. in music education from The University of South Florida and her Master of Education degree from National Louis University. She earned the designation as a National Board Certified Teacher in 2007. Mrs. Cook served as President and Past President (2001-2006) of the Florida Association, in addition to serving several other professional music organizations and Curriculum Development teams. Her expertise is in demand as she judges and presents in clinic settings throughout Florida. Several of her orchestra compositions have been published by the Neil A. Kjos Music Company, and one was debuted at the Mid West International Music Conference in 2005. Ms. Tami Roedig (Stage Adjudicator) Ms. Roedig received her bachelor s degree in music education from West Chester University in Pennsylvania and her master s degree in bilingual education from Northern Arizona University. She has taught both band and orchestra for the past 14 years in Arizona and Florida. She is currently in her first year in Pinellas County, teaching orchestra at Tarpon Springs and East Lake High Schools, along with acting as mentor to the string faculty. Her orchestras have been recognized yearly at district, state and national festivals with ratings of Superior for their on-stage and sight-reading performances. She has served as the District 7 Chair, and is currently President of the Florida Association. She has served as guest adjudicator and conductor throughout the state of Florida. Mr. Michael Parks (Sight-reading Adjudicator) Michael Parks is the Resource Teacher for Music, K-12 for the Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, where he facilitates student/teacher growth in the district s 53 band and 59 string/orchestra programs. Currently enjoying his 34th year of teaching, Mr. Parks is active as a guest conductor/clinician for honors bands throughout Florida and the Southeast, as an adjudicator for the Florida Association, and has served as a Florida All-State Band Conductor in 1995 and 2001. Professional organizations include Phi Beta Mu International Band Directors Fraternity, Florida Bandmasters Association, Florida Association, and Florida Music Supervisors Association. Mr. Arthur Prano (Conducting Evaluator) Arthur Pranno is Director of String Studies at Florida Southern College, where he teaches violin and conducts the Florida Southern Symphony. He is currently the Associate conductor and concertmaster of the Imperial Symphony. He received his Bachelor of Music from the University of Iowa and Master of Music from Arizona State University. Mr. Pranno has served as Music Director of the Brevard Symphony, Conductor of the Florida Symphony Youth and has served as a guest clinician and adjudicator throughout the United States. Mr. Pranno has received many awards which have included the ASTA Special Service Award and the Beverly Wolff Teaching Award. In 2009 he was named the Florida College Music Educator of the Year.
