Acting Spanish Theatre Course description The courses are intended for practising and improving acting techniques or for acting in English, with Jorge de Juan and Andy Dickinson, directors of the Spanish Theatre Company. Their open and monthly courses, starting in January, in Instituto Cervantes London, are subsidised by the company. The monthly courses taught by Jorge de Juan and Andy Dickinson are for trained actors, with a course for beginners in Spanish. In both they work monologues and scenes from classic, modern and contemporary Spanish and Latin American plays. Breathing for Acting forms the foundation of their work, using the text as the point of departure. Searching for the emotion and the character through something as physical as the breath and working on different texts, as soon as the student enters the class, they cater for the necessities of each actor or actress. Andy Dickinson teaches his acting in English classes through scenes and monologues. The actors work on their pronunciation and prepare for the company s dramatised readings or productions (which may be in English); or for the castings which many go to. The language level is that of many Spanish actors who have moved to London. Jorge de Juan usually attends Andy s classes, and works on some of the scenes. The dynamic is one of constant training that leads to a solid foundation in the case of beginners, and a continual professional practise for those with more experience. Every three months showcases are produced to share the students work with the general public.

Several students have been in the first and second Dramatised Reading which were performed in Southwark Playhouse to Sold Out audiences. This is one of the attractions of the course: the most outstanding students may participate in STC s readings and productions. Dates (courses run on a monthly basis) April 11-12, 19, 25-26 May 2-3, 9-10, 16-17, 24, 30-31 Days, times and fees A) Group class in English Saturdays 10 12. 30pm 125 B) Group class in Spanish Saturdays 1 3.30pm 125 C) Group class in Spanish Sundays 10 12. 30pm 125 Discount (20%) for A + B 200 Maximum 12 students per class Enrolment cultlon1@cervantes.es
