INVISIBLE THEATRE - PRESS RELEASE Press Contact: Cathy Johnson or Susan Claassen Administration: (520) 884-0672 Box Office: (520) 882-9721 1400 N. First Ave, Tucson, AZ 85719 cathy@invisibletheatre.com www.invisibletheatre.com FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Invisible Theatre continues its 45 th Anniversary Season with the World Premiere of DEELMAYKER by Warren Bodow February 9 21, 2016 (January 18, 2016, Tucson, Arizona); IT continues its 45 th Anniversary Season with the world premiere of DEELMAYKER by Tucson playwright, Warren Bodow. This heartfelt play directed by Susan Claassen and Fred Rodriguez features Jack Neubeck, Kathleen Erickson, Kylie Arnold, Ellie Boyles and Sean Dupont. DEELMAYKER tells the story of Bernie Harris, a 65 year-old charismatic, vivacious wheeler-dealer living in Palm Springs with a wife he s crazy about. He realizes that as he has been getting older, the world around him has been getting younger. Should this champion dealmaker hang it up and count his blessings or can he meet the challenge of staying relevant in a dot.com world? This production is made possible in part through the generous support of Kristi Keller and Bernie Bauer

DEELMAYKER will play from February 9-21, 2016 with the official press opening on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. The Invisible Theatre is located at 1400 N. First Avenue (at Drachman), Tucson, AZ 85719. The single show ticket price for DEELMAYKER is $30. Additional discounts are available for groups, seniors, active military and students. Rush tickets are available for purchase at half-price one half hour prior to performance time and are subject to availability. Tickets are available for purchase by calling the Invisible Theatre Box Office at (520) 882-9721 and are also available 24/7 on-line through OvationTix at www.invisibletheatre.com. The running time is two hours with an intermission. THE INVISIBLE THEATRE The Invisible Theatre (IT) of Tucson, a 501(c)(3) organization, is dedicated to producing quality theatre and arts education experiences for all facets of the community in an intimate setting that showcases local professional talent and guest artists. IT takes its name from the invisible energy that flows between a performer and audience, creating the magic of theatre. Started in 1971 as an arena for local playwrights, the theatre has expanded its programs to include adaptations of classics and recent Off- Broadway plays and musicals, while continuing to encourage new playwrights through both full productions and staged readings. Under the leadership of Managing Artistic Director Susan Claassen, Associate Artistic Director James Blair, and PR Director Cathy Johnson, IT is strongly committed to community service and outreach programs. The company's current season includes a six play Main Stage season, many special events, a world class cabaret series, organizational collaborations, educational tours, seminars that encourage community dialogue and Project Pastime an educational theatre program for mentally challenged youth. The Invisible Theatre, the recipient of the first Arizona Theatre Association Award for Best Producing Theatre Company, is a member of the Theatre Communications Group and has long enjoyed both local and national recognition for its strong leadership role in the arts community. Productions take place in an intimate 80-seat converted laundry building. IT celebrates its 45 th season with an even greater commitment to professionalism, artistic excellence, accessibility, freedom of expression, diverse programming and creative challenge thus making the Invisible Theatre a very visible force in Tucson's cultural community. 2

ABOUT THE CAST KYLIE ARNOLD (Harriet Harris) is thrilled to be back onstage at IT! She was last seen at IT in BINGO THE MUSICAL. Kylie has had a varied career performing at many theatres in Tucson including six seasons with Arizona Opera, four years with The Gaslight Theatre, and three years at Old Tucson Studios. Kylie made her New York, Off-Broadway debut in PLATINUM TAPS. In 2011, Kylie returned to the University of Arizona to finally complete her long-desired Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre. As a member of the U of A's Arizona Repertory Theatre, she performed in many of their productions including THE SECRET GARDEN, NECESSARY TARGETS, and their record-breaking run of OKLAHOMA as Aunt Eller. Kylie also performs with The Dancehall Darlins, as well as her two rock bands Souled Out and Tektonic. Kylie is a proud member of Actors Equity Association. ELLIE BOYLES (Suki Echevarria) is a Senior BFA Theatre History & Dramaturgy student at the University of Arizona. She has served as dramaturg for many Arizona Repertory Theatre productions, including the upcoming THE COMEDY OF ERRORS and THE TEMPEST, as well as the recent A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, LEND ME A TENOR, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM and BOEING BOEING. She also assistant directed The Rogue Theatre's production of THE LADY IN THE LOOKING GLASS and Winding Road Theatre Ensemble's production of BOOM. This is her first professional performance on a Tucson stage and she is thrilled to be a part of this marvelous cast at IT. SEAN WILLIAM DUPONT (Emory Schwartz) has an MFA in Theatre Directing from East 15 Acting School in London and a BFA in Theatre History and Dramaturgy from The U of A. Sean s work in the UK includes Jonathan in THE RAINTONS OF FORTY HALL and Virtuoso in Stanislav Stratiev s THE BUS at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. His work in the U.S. includes Claude in IT s production of AN EMPTY PLATE AT THE CAFÉ DU GRAND BOEUF and as Bob in SUMMERTIME at the University of Arizona. He is the creator of the original play SKINHEAD! and a Balinese Shadow Puppet adaptation of John Steinbeck s OF MICE AND MEN. He recently directed RHINOCEROS, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING and BUS STOP for Eastern Arizona College. Other shows he has directed include BLACKBIRD, KING LEAR and A FLEA IN HER EAR. KATHLEEN ERICKSON (Anne Harris) is a member of the Screen Actors Guild appearing in HBO films such as "El Diablo", and "Jericho Fever", along with other television projects such as "The Young Riders" and the remakes of "Red River" and "Gunsmoke". Kathleen wrote the curriculum for the Film Acting and Intermediate Drama classes at Tucson High Magnet School where she currently teaches and serves as magnet coordinator. Upon moving from Los Angeles in the 1980's, Kathleen was lucky enough to have her first encounter with the Tucson stage scene in the Invisible Theatre's productions of TAXI DANCERS and BEYOND THERAPY. In 2001 and 2003, Kathleen had a ball appearing in the IT productions of LITTLE FOOTSTEPS and KNOCK 'EM DEAD. IT is thrilled to have Kathleen back after a much too long hiatus! JACK NEUBECK (Bernie Harris) is a proud member of Actors Equity Association. After nearly 20 years in and around New York City, and over 2500 performances on Broadway including the original Broadway casts of EVITA and LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, Jack moved to Tucson in 1986 and became part of the IT family in 1989 playing El Gallo in THE FANTASTICKS. He has been a treasured member of the IT family ever since, performing in such favorites as LOST IN YONKERS, COOKIN WITH GUS, THE REAL INSPECTOR HOUND, IN THE MOOD, THE FOX ON THE FAIRWAY, OLIVE AND THE BITTER HERBS, and most recently SHEAR MADNESS. Two of his proudest IT highlights were his collaborations with Susan Claassen and Jeffrey Haskell in ONCE AND FOREVER, a musical tribute to Irving Berlin, and the startup of SIZZLING SUMMER SOUNDS. 3

ABOUT THE DIRECTORS SUSAN CLAASSEN is celebrating her 41 st anniversary with IT. As Managing Artistic Director, she has produced over 395 productions and directed over 90 including SHEAR MADNESS (MAC award Nominee for comedy director).
