International Piano Series Background In 2004 Guy Barrett approached Legh Davis who was Chairman of sharebrokers then known as ABN AMRO Morgans to discuss the launching of an international piano series for Adelaide. Guy had come to Adelaide in 2002 after working in the film and music industry in London. Guy had a particular passion for piano recitals and was on first name terms with a number of internationally renowned pianists. Legh had retired from Parliament in 2002 and between 1985 and 1992 he had been the Liberal spokesman for the Arts. Legh agreed to sponsor Guy s proposal and the initial season in 2005 featured Nikolai Demidenko and Piers Lane. The Morgans International Piano Series (IPS) in 2018 will be in its 14th year. Concerts are held at the Adelaide Festival Centre. Harris Real Estate, Barristers Block Winery and Bowden Printing along with major sponsor Morgans have been strong financial supporters of IPS. The IPS committee comprises Legh as chairman, Guy as musical director, Richard Wishart as treasurer and Andrew Ligertwood who was on the board of Musica Viva.
