Market Participant Cutover Briefing #5: Recap of Cutover Night Congratulations! Shortly after midnight last night MISO successfully completed the South Region Integration The total MISO footprint now includes: 46 Transmission Owners, representing over 65,000 miles of transmission 35 Local Balancing Authorities 383 Market Participants, representing: 196,000 MW of generation 128,000 MW of load MISO s one-of-a-kind LMP Contour Map is now running, and allows for a detailed visualization of realtime market conditions: https://www.misoenergy.org/lmpcontourmap/miso_all.html Congratulations to all of you that have been involved in this effort. MISO is very excited to welcome in its new members and we sincerely thank you for your efforts to make this a successful integration 4

Market Participant Cutover Briefing #5: Notable Market Developments Operating Day: 12/19 Successfully completed all cutover and integration activities All MISO infrastructure and systems are operating as expected General Observations: Shortly after cut over, there was one brief interval (5-10 minutes) with high Locational Marginal Prices (LMPs) in the South Region due to an incorrect limit. This limit error was quickly corrected, and the LMPs were corrected as part of MISO s LMP verification process. Power flows observed from north to south between 0 and 1800 MW with no significant constraints on the system; No requests from Joint Parties to reduce ORCA Dispatch Flow Morning load pickup of between 1200 1500 MW for several 5 minute periods with excellent overall control performance MISO South Regional Generation Dispatchers (RGDs) continue to monitor and contact Market Participants with units not following dispatch MISO s unit start-up logic requires non zero metered output from units prior to dispatching units. This includes Jointly Owned Unit (JOU) shares. If one share is zero then the start-up logic will not dispatch the unit up. Please ensure that units online or starting up have non-zero metered MW output sent to MISO Please remember to inform MISO South RGD of any significant infrastructure or system changes that could affect market operations (ICCP or EMS maintenance) 5

Market Participant Cutover Briefing #5: FAQ Notable Market Development FAQs Questions Answers What time zone should I use to submit my bids / offers? Eastern Standard Time Why am I receiving such a high volume of starts and stops for this particular unit? Typically it runs on a more consistent pattern The volume of starts / stops was required to satisfy initial conditions and required some manual intervention by MISO South RGDs as part of the cutover. Please also check your specific unit parameters to ensure that they accurately reflect the unit s capabilities (e.g. ramp rates, economic minimums, minimum down times) Is market participation for the South Region in line with MISO s expectation MISO has seen strong participation in both the Day-Ahead and Real- Time markets What should I do if I can t access certain systems? Please first check with your Local Security Administrator. If not resolved, please contact the MISO Network Operations Center (NOC) What is MISO s Twitter Handle @MISO_energy 8
