Oh no, we ve finally gone and done it! We have always loved them; always seen ourselves in them, even before Charles Darwin and his Theory of Evolution, proved our joint ancestry. In fact, we are ninety eight per cent the same genetically.

This year s Spraoi Parade celebrates our closest relatives, our similarities, and our differences. From monkeys with typewriters, to King Kong. From Monkey Business to swinging orangutans. From the ancient eastern three wise monkeys who See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil to the Simian pioneers of the 1960s and the race to space. It s going to be a wild and fun filled night in Waterford As the song goes: We re too busy singing to bring anybody down! Now what was that band called again?

Michael St. PARADE INFORMATION The parade will begin at Johnstown Industrial Estate at 9.30pm and progress via Johns, Michael, Broad, John Roberts Square and Barronstrand to its finish on the Quay. Traffic diversions and restrictions will occur as the parade moves along the route. There will be absolutely no parking allowed on the parade route, so please try to leave the car behind. There will be three fixed ambulance points along the route. Our stewards will guide you to these if required. There will be a specially cordoned off viewing area for those with special needs, location to be confirmed closer to the festival. (see www.spraoi.com for updates). For situations involving lost children please go to the nearest steward. They will contact the Spraoi Child Welfare officers. Please follow any directions given by and be courteous to our stewards. They are there in a purely voluntary capacity for the safety of both the audience and the performers. A major firework extravaganza from the River Suir on the night of Sunday 2nd August. Pyrofantasia s explosive climatic firework display is one of the highlights of the Spraoi Festival, and begins at the finale of the Spraoi Parade. Best viewing area: Anywhere along Waterford s Quays! Fireworks sponsor

Theatre Furieuse Tendresse Company: Cirque Exalte Irish Premiere A show that takes inspiration from Patti Smith s album Horses, a concentration of savage rock and ardent poetry. Through the deafening crash of intense acrobatics and frenzied poetry, they celebrate liberty joyously, with a rocking soundtrack. They strive to awaken and cherish the rebellious lover buried in each of us. An exhilarating performance conceived to express the intensity of life and of living in the moment. Inferno Company: PassePartout Circus & Theatre Co Inferno is a spectacular fire show that combines a unique crosssection of circus skills, comedy, physical theatre and pyromania, featuring some of Ireland s foremost fire performers in their element. The company will light up Spraoi with their graceful and fascinating techniques, where body and fire become one single wild shape. This rare late evening event for the entire family will ignite the imagination of all who are there to witness it.

Circus Jukebox Company: Fanzini Productions Irish Premiere Fanzini Recording Company presents a new limited edition long player Circus Jukebox, the greatest circus hits this side of a 45! Inspired by the glory days of vinyl, dance floors and diners, they bring a bespoke stage, a human size jukebox, where the audience chooses who plays and who stays. Featuring a range of Circus acts such as the Chinese pole, clown, movement, electronics and poi, acrobatics, juggling, and carny/sideshow. The Billy Kidd Show Performer: Billy Kidd A high energy show filled with mind reading, a hilarious routine based on Houdini s straight jacket escape, lots of audience participation and one of the oldest magic tricks in the world. Watch as Billy turns paper to money, finds a card while dangling from a trapeze, or reads your mind in unexpected ways. A show for all ages designed to make you laugh and be amazed. Monkey A Monkey B Company: Capitan Maravilla Productions A weird and wonderful acrobatic comedy from Spanish company Capitan Maravilla who monkey around as they somersault over a specially customised Mini Cooper full of surprises. Monkey A Monkey B, the two leading monkeys, give a performance that has to be seen to be believed, with their unique and personal sketches. Humour, acrobatics and juggling are only a small part of this circus show.

T.N.T Company: CIE Scratch Irish Premiere The members of Cie Scratch, in their street clothes of hoodies, sweats and runners, present T.N.T. These colourful characters combine some slick juggling with some silly choreography and a tad of burlesque. This show is a real pleasure to watch. Cirque Democratique de la Belgique Company: Pol & Freddy This circus performance is very Belgian and therefore absolutely democratic: the public has the right and the obligation to vote and to decide what will happen. By public vote, this street-cabaret goes from juggling plates and tap dancing to a flatbelly-dive from 4 m high into a swimming pool with 30 cm of water. A humorous look at the limitations of democracy and the dictatorial tendencies of the majority Affetto D Amore Performer: Mr Mustache Irish Premiere An eccentric lovesick man who sees love everywhere, Mr Mustache silently tells us his hilarious love story. Will he be able to succeed in winning the girl? In love the unexpected is always just around the corner

2015 Sit Back Company: Moxie Brawl Irish Premiere A contemporary dance company, led by the choreographer Sarah Blanc whose works are aimed at involving the audience and making them take part in experiences through dance. This street dance-theatre piece is inspired by the role of the workforce and by female camaraderie in the 1940s and especially during the Second World War. The Company: Lords of Strutt Skryf The Sand Writer Company/Performer: Gijs van Bon Irish Premiere Skryf moves forward leaving a stream of letters behind him. An almost irrelevant pile of sand creates the magic of the word. Human beings, nature and the passage of time are responsible for the disintegration of the word again. Sometimes very quickly, sometimes slowly, like sand through your fingers. Destiny is written on the dance floor and we know how to read! Brothers, Famous Seamus and Sean-tastic, driven by a lust for fame but broken by a talent for failure! Satire, surreal and silly all wrapped in a parcel of laughter delivered to you with love and acrobatics. This is circus like you have never seen it before. In the air, on their backs, and with very little clothing! Bubbly Maths Caroline Ainslie, founder of Bubbly Maths will be bringing maths alive, creating oohs and aahs with giant balloon geometric shapes, huge soap bubbles as well as small bubble squares. Visitors can take their own balloon shapes home upon solving fun puzzles. They will be splitting DNA, exploring the maths in science. 0 spr g

Clown on a Bike Company: Wobbly Circus No one is safe from this unique roving clown, expect honking horns, squealing tyres, juggling tricks, electro swing sounds and most of all expect the unexpected! Performed on a mini penny-farthing bicycle with a booming bass sound system and special effects this is a clown show like no other. Musical Ruth Performer: Musical Ruth Sister Ruth, a madcap nun who can stop and entertain any group of people using comedy patter, hilarious dance moves, facial contortions, sound effects and unusual renditions of all your favourite songs. Big Hatted Ladies Company: Natural Theatre Company The ladies, who wear enormous hats, take tea and the mickey and are Sooo Ladylike: Polished, Elegant, adding a touch of Class to your common little caper. Wouldn t you like to Toy with their Tombola? Paparazzi Company: Natural Theatre Company It s no use hiding! They ve recognised you! Flash! Dazzle! Flash! Every guest is a Celeb for 15 seconds, as the Paparazzi mistake every one of them for someone famous. Expect a riotous and hilarious welcome to Spraoi! Jobsworths Company: Natural Theatre Company George knows the Rules. So does George. George does, too Sorry: they can t let you do that it s more than their job s worth George (and his namesakes!) works everywhere ubiquitously appropriate!
