It is the author s responsibility to obtain permission to reproduce illustrations, tables, etc. from other publications. Conflicts of Interest Authors are required to disclose any sponsorship or funding arrangements relating to their research and all authors should disclose any possible conflicts of interest. Conflict of interest statements will be published at the end of the article. Ethics Published research must comply with the guidelines for human studies and animal welfare regulations. Authors should state that subjects have given their informed consent and that the study protocol has been approved by the institute s committee on human research. Further, they should also state that animal experiments conform to institutional standards. Categories of Manuscripts Original Papers are full-length research papers which will be considered for the journal. Articles cover topics relevant to clinical studies. Basic and experimental work appear only if directly related to clinical issues (max. 3,000 words). Reviews are comprehensive, state-of-the-art papers of important clinical problems. Reviews may be invited by the Editor or they may be unsolicited views (max. 5,000 words). An Abstract is required and should be divided into Background, Summary and Key Messages. Articles in this section may be accompanied by an invited comment (max. 1,000 words). Proposals to the Editor are welcome. Plagiarism Policy Whether intentional or not, plagiarism is a serious violation. We define plagiarism as a case in which a paper reproduces another work with at least 25% similarity and without citation. If evidence of plagiarism is found before/after acceptance or after publication of the paper, the author will be offered a chance for rebuttal. If the arguments are not found to be satisfactory, the manuscript will be retracted and the author sanctioned from publishing papers for a period to be determined by the responsible Editor(s). Arrangement Title page: The first page of each paper should indicate the title, the authors names, the institute where the work was conducted, and a short title for use as running head. Full address: The exact postal address of the corresponding author complete with postal code must be given at the bottom of the title page. Please also supply phone and fax numbers, as well as e-mail address. Key words: Please supply 3 10 key words in English that reflect the content of the paper. Abstract: Each paper needs a detailed and structured abstract of 400 words. The only international journal devoted to the study of neurological disease distribution and determinants of frequency in human populations Editor-in-Chief V.L. Feigin, Auckland Associate Editors E. Beghi, Milano D.A. Bennett, Oxford G. Logroscino, Bari B. Norrving, Lund Assistant Editors S. Feigin, Auckland A. Theadom, Auckland Official journal of the International Association of Neurology and Epidemiology (IANE) Neuroepidemiology is the only internationally recognised peer-reviewed periodical devoted to descriptive, analytical and experimental studies in the epidemiology of neurologic disease. The scope of the journal expands the boundaries of traditional clinical neurology by providing new insights regarding the etiology, determinants, distribution, management and prevention of diseases of the nervous system. In order to meet the demands of the ever increasing pace in research, Neuroepidemiology is committed to reduce its online publication span to approx. six weeks after acceptance: papers will be published online first, and their printed version will be included in the next scheduled issue. The journal enjoys a high scientific reputation with a continually increasing impact factor and an equally high circulation. Ziche, Siena Official Organ of the European Society for Microcirculation The Journal of Vascular Research pub lishes original articles and reviews of scientific excellence in vascular and microvascular biology, physiology and pathophysiology. The scope of the journal covers a broad spectrum of vascular and lymphatic research, including vascular structure, vascular function, haemodynamics, mechanics, cell signalling, intercellular communication, growth and differentiation. JVR s Vascular update series regularly presents state of the art reviews on hot topics in vascular biology. Manuscript processing times are, consistent with stringent review, kept as short as possible due to electronic submission. All articles are published online first, ensuring rapid publi cation. The Journal of Vascular Research is the official journal of the European Society of Microcirculation. A biennial prize is awarded to the authors of the best paper published in the journal over the previous two years, thus encouraging young scientists working in the exciting field of vascular biology to publish their findings. (Montreux) Listed in MEDLINE/Pubmed Dear Librarian I have reviewed this publication and would like to recommend it for our library. Recommended by: The hippocampus is one of the most intriguing structures of the human brain. Damage to this part causes symptoms ranging from transient disorders accompanied by tiny lesions to severely debilitating cognitive disorders with marked tissue loss. This publication provides a predominantly clinical approach to the complex workings of the hippocampus from different perspectives, ranging from basic principles to specific diseases. The first part of the book summarizes current knowledge regarding the structure and physiology of the hippocampus and establishes the ties to basic neuroscience. The second part deals with the function and assessment of the human hippocampus, including memory function, neuropsychological measures, and conventional and functional imaging studies. The chapters of the third part are devoted to the hippocampus in neurological disorders, e.g. the interaction between stress and memory function, and the pathological conditions of common as well as selected rare neurological diseases affecting the hippocampus. The book is highly recommended to clinical neurologists who wish to gain a broad understanding of this complex and fascinating organ in terms of basic principles, modern imaging findings, and specific diseases.
