Dear Music Educator, The Manitoba Orff Chapter will once again be presenting Orff Children's Day on Friday, April 27, 2018. You and six grade 5 students from your school are invited to participate in this fantastic professional development opportunity and event. This fun- filled and musically enriching day will take place at Brandon University School of Music (270-18 th Street) from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. This year s chosen theme is "Back to the Future: An Intergalactic Exploration. Under the leadership of five expert clinicians, students will take part in various workshops integrating choral singing, recorder, movement, percussion and ensemble playing on the Orff instruments. The day's activities will culminate at 3:00 p.m. in a sharing session presented by all participating students. Please encourage the parents of participating students and administrators to attend. We will provide you with an electronic copy of an invitation for them closer to the event. Please consider the following criteria when inviting students to participate: Students should have a positive attitude and be responsible. Students should be proficient and comfortable in the five areas of the Orff process (singing, movement, speech, improvisation, and instrumental playing, including soprano recorder). Please note that you must be a member of the Manitoba Orff Chapter in order to enroll your students in this event. If you have any questions about membership or wish to become a member, please go to www.. Students must be accompanied by a teacher. Teachers accompanying their students are admitted free. Teachers without participating students who wish to observe must pay $20.00. Please indicate on the registration form if a student teacher will be attending. The fee per student teacher and retired teacher is $10.00. All fees are nonrefundable.

This year we are offering an Early Bird registration of $16.00 per student if received before October 27, 2017 and $20.00 per student if received after this date. All fees are non-refundable. Students will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis. Enclosed you will find a teacher overview sheet, parent letter and registration form, and media release form. Please make a copy for each participating student. Be sure to indicate on the student registration form if the student or the school is responsible for the payment. Dear Parents/Guardians: Your child has been invited to represent our school at Orff Children's Day on Friday, April 27 th, 2018. Orff Children's Day is an opportunity for grade 5 students and their teachers from across the province to come together for a day of creative music making. Sessions will include choral, recorder, movement, percussion and ensemble playing on the Orff instruments. This fun-filled and musically enriching event will take place at Brandon University School of Music (270 18 th St. Brandon) from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Manitoba Orff Chapter. Your music teacher is a member of this organization and will be in attendance during the day. Please note the following details regarding the day: Approximately 6 students from each participating school will attend this event. Registration will take place starting at 8:30 a.m. at Brandon University School of Music. Check-in at the registration table upon arrival. Parents are responsible for the transportation of their child. Please provide your child with a nut-free bagged lunch for the noon hour. Two snacks will be provided during the day. If your child has any food allergies, please provide a suitable snack in addition to the bagged lunch. Please note no microwaves are available. Students must bring their own soprano recorder labelled with their name and school. Students should dress comfortably for movement and wear running shoes. The day's activities will culminate in a sharing session presented by the participating students. Family and friends are welcome to attend this session, which will begin at 3:00 p.m. The day will end at 3:30 p.m. Please arrange for your child to be picked up at that time. There will be no supervision of students after 3:45 p.m. Orff Children's Day is a wonderful opportunity for your child to be enriched by a shared experience of the Orff approach to music making.
