Your job as a technician is to not only to complete installations, but to provide education so our customers understand how to use their system. With the feature, you should take the opportunity to show your customer how it works, and how it can enrich their television watching experience. Let s take a look at the features of, and learn how it works.
Understand Demonstrate how to use As mentioned in the last section, will suggest new shows to a customer based on their interests. Here s what looks different, and here is how it works. The Advanced Whole-Home DVR will record shows that the customer has not specifically requested, but are likely to enjoy. recordings will not delete any recordings in the Playlist. If the customer creates a Series Record for the title, it will act like all other Series Recordings. recordings are the lowest priority recordings, and will not conflict with any of the customer requested recordings. will also assist novice DVR users to set up series links. A Broadband internet connection is not required to use the functions When recording a show, the record light on the front panel will be off. /TV shows will also appear on C31 clients and Samsung TV RVU Clients Upon receiving the updated software, a screen will display that updates have been made. 3 Figure 1. The first time the customer navigates to the banner (as shown above), or to the new TV Shows item, the customer will have the option to turn ON. Understand After turning ON or OFF, a confirmation screen will appear. If a customer decides to turn OFF, all existing episodes will be deleted. Demonstrate how to use Figure 7. Understand Demonstrate how to use Selecting the title will let you view the episode that is available to play, and it will search for other episodes available to download (if the internet is connected). Users can select Drop from if they wish to remove the title from, or they can arrow to the title, and play the recording. Understand Demonstrate how to use Far in Advance Smart Search This feature will allow the customer to search and set series recordings for programs outside of the normal 14 day window if such information is available in the broadcasted guide data. This feature is not for one-time recordings. Not all new or future series titles will have a Coming Soon option. 8 Figure 15. Understand Demonstrate how to use VOD and Linear Channel Linking When a customer has their Advanced Whole-Home DVR connected to the internet, and there is a VOD home page related to a linear channel (e.g. Ch. 1501 is the VOD homepage for Ch. 501), there will be a link from the channel information page to go directly to the VOD home page. Channels with links will show a white triangle in the channel cell. While in the Guide, scroll to the left to highlight the channel, and a Tip will appear. 9 Figure 17. Guide with white link triangle Figure 18. Linked channel tip Press Info while the Channel cell is highlighted, will bring up the channel info page. If the channel has a VOD channel, it will have a On Demand option in the left menu. Selecting the On Demand option will bring up that channel s VOD home page. If the channel does not have a VOD channel, it will only allow you to Tune to the channel and will only show the listings for the linear channels. Figure 19. Channel info page
