I love shooting in Toronto as evidenced by the fact I ve been involved with four films here; three as a producer (The Hurricane, Dawn Of The Dead and The Thing) and one as director (Flash Of Genius). It s a city that welcomes filmmakers and has truly nurtured an artistic climate. The talent base, especially in terms of crew, is as good as it gets. MARC ABRAHAM, Producer The Thing, Universal Studios The Thing Ontario Film Commission services are second to none. And we re not the only ones saying it. I m delighted to say that the efforts of the Film Commission were key in securing the decision to shoot Red in Toronto. The presence of a pro-active and supportive Film Commission that seeks to bring work and economic benefit to the city was instrumental in assuring us that Toronto was the best home for our film. Ontario has a proven track record of doing it right. Decades of experience, a quality infrastructure and reliable tax credits will save you time and money. The Borgias FINANCIAL ADVANTAGES Ontario s 25% services tax credit for eligible film and television productions, the Ontario Production Services Tax Credit (OPSTC), has recently been expanded beyond labour to include other eligible Ontario production expenditures. The federal government also offers an additional tax credit of 16% (for service productions) The tax credit for domestic productions, the Ontario Film and Television Tax Credit (OFTTC) continues to also be very attractive for both domestic and co-productions providing a 35% tax credit on eligible Ontario labour expenditures with an additional 10% regional bonus. The federal government also offers 25% (for domestic productions) on your Canadian labour costs. The Ontario Computer Animation and Special Effects Tax Credit (OCASE) of 20% for eligible labour on VFX and animation activities in Ontario including on-set labour costs for green screen shooting. Toronto and Ontario are still the envy of many cities and states. Great expertise, the breadth of production options and consistent tax credits make the difference. J.
