529 Broadway plans revealed: PHOTOS Cayre, Sutton, Sitt, Adjmi propose six-story retail building at Soho site August 30, 2013 02:30PM By Adam Pincus A group of high-powered investors that includes Bobby Cayre and Jeff Sutton is planning to clear the lot at 529 Broadway in Soho and put up an eye-catching six-story retail building that resembles a hotel that stood there in the mid-1800s, The Real Deal has learned exclusively. The site, at the intersection of Broadway and Spring Street, has a two-story commercial building from 1935. The developers want to replace it with a 34,000-square-foot, glass-and-brick structure that has window details adapted from the Prescott House, an 1853 hotel demolished during the Great Depression. Soho retail lease beats price record for downtown April 15, 2013 11:45AM A retail rent in Soho has topped $1,000 per square foot, a new benchmark for Downtown, Crain s reported. Prada set the record when it renewed its lease at Broadway and Spring Street, the 10,000-square-foot space owned by billionaire Peter Brant, Crain s said. Tenants want an alternative to the uptown market, real estate investor Joseph Sitt, who owns SoHo properties, told Crain s. There is no good brand that comes to New York City from anywhere in the world that now thinks they can be in only one or the other. Guelda Voien Under Armour takes first NYC digs at Soho s 583 Broadway October 24, 2013 10:20AM Athletic attire company Under Armour has signed a deal for its first permanent New York City location in Soho. The clothing purveyor will open its flagship retail store in a three-level space at 583 Broadway. The store, between Prince and Houston streets, was previously occupied by retailer Espirit. Hiten Samtani Shoe retailer Clark s slips into Soho space September 04, 2013 11:49AM If Soho fits, wear it. Shoe retailer Clark s is opening its first store in the neighborhood, having signed a lease for 7,600 square feet. Asking rent was $2.2 million a year. The department store-friendly shoe brand will set up in a two-level, block-through space that has entrances at both 547 Broadway and 118 Mercer Street. Clark s has about 900 outlets across the U.S., including two in Manhattan, one in Brooklyn and one in Queens. That part of Broadway sees asking rents of $700 to $750 per foot. Mark Maurer
Nike s got its eye on ritzy new Fifth Avenue digs December 4, 2013 12:52PM By Lois Weiss Manhattan Niketown Photo by G.N. Miller Sports retailing giant Nike is ready to leave its Niketown Midtown location and is exploring opportunities in the more tourist friendly parts of Fifth Avenue, where it is likely to move to H&M s 40,756 square-foot digs at 640 Fifth, which is owned by Vornado Realty Trust. The Beaverton, Ore., company, whose lease at 6 E. 57th St. is not up until the end of May 2017 not including three five-year extensions is nevertheless seeking to relocate out of its massive flagship location. Nike built it at a time in the mid-1990s when retailers like Warner Bros. were still exhausting shoppers by bringing them up and down numerous tiny floors. Nowadays, most retailers know people won t venture up or down more than one or two levels from the street. Nike is also still looking for another spot, in SoHo, where sources said they had been targeting a new building being developed by Jeff Sutton and partners at 529 Broadway that is among the best available.
