The Web sites for the major video card maufacturers are: ATI : http://ati.amd.com Itel : http://www.itel.com Nvidia : http://www.vidia.com Whe I coect the moitor s USB hub to my computer, I see a error message sayig that my USB hub may ot be ruig at full speed. This ca happe if you coected the moitor s high-speed USB 2.0 hub to a low-speed USB 1.1 hub or a USB 1.1 port o your computer. To use the moitor s high-speed USB 2.0 capabilities, you must coect the moitor to a USB 2.0 port o your computer. Whe I ru my games, I do ot see support for widescree displays. What ca I do? Newer games are addig support for widescree displays as the widescree format becomes more popular. Check the game s Web site for updates. You ca also cosult the followig Web site for specific settigs ad optios to cofigure older games to support widescree: http://www.widescreegamigforum.com. Some adjustmets may require you to make chages to the Widows System Registry. We recommed makig a complete system backup before chagig the System Registry. Techical Why do I see oise or trash o the scree? Whe your display s digital capabilities exceed a digital broadcast sigal, the sigal is icreased (up-coverted) to match the display capabilities. Up-covertig ca cause oise or trash. The sigal o DVI-D is HDCP ecoded. Stop ad restart the source to allow reegotiatio. What is HDCP ad how do I troubleshoot it? High-badwidth Digital Cotet Protectio (HDCP) is a specificatio developed by the Itel Corporatio to protect digital etertaimet cotet that uses a digital visual iterface (DVI). HDCP ecrypts the trasmissio of digital cotet (sigal) betwee the video source (computer, DVD player, or set-top box) ad the digital display (moitor, digital televisio/dtv, or projector). HDCP is ot desiged to prevet copyig or recordig of digital cotet, but oly to protect the itegrity of the cotet as trasmitted. How does HDCP work? Implemetatio of HDCP requires a licese obtaiable from the Digital Cotet Protectio, LLC, which the issues a set of uique secret device keys to all authorized devices. Durig autheticatio, the receivig device oly accepts cotet after it ackowledges the keys. To further prevet stealig of the data or lie tappig, the trasmitter ad receiver geerate a shared secret value that is costatly checked throughout the trasmissio. After autheticatio is established, the trasmitter ecrypts the data ad seds it to the receiver for decryptio. 17

CHAPTER 1: Usig Your Gateway Flat-Pael Moitor Video/Display What happes if I lose sigal to the display while watchig a movie o a HDCP-equipped compoet? The compoet must be restarted to establish reegotiatio. For example, while watchig a movie o a HDCP-eabled DVD player, you chage the receivig device (DTV, moitor, or projector) iput to watch broadcast TV, the chage the iput back to watch the DVD movie. However, you are uable to watch the movie. This is because whe the iput was chaged, the receiver lost the HDCP sigal. Restart the HDCP-eabled DVD player to allow reegotiatio. What is the cause if a movie starts ad the slowly fades to static? The receivig device is ot HDCP compatible or it is ot egotiatig correctly. Restart the video source ad re-plug all video cables from the source to the TV. How do I kow if a compoet is HDCP compliat? If the video source device does ot have a DVI or HDMI coectio, it is ot HDCP compliat. I see black bars o left ad right of the video. Ca I stretch the video to fit more of the scree? Press the Meu butto o the right had side of the display, select Mai Meu, the select Video Adjust, the select Video Scalig. To fill more of the scree, choose Full mode. Importat Although the HDMI iterface supports audio, o audio is set to the moitor. You must separately coect the audio output of your video device to a exteral audio amplifier. 18
