The Telemetrics Coax/Fiber Link is an affordable camera control system with increased operating distance. Using frequency multiplexing the following signals are transmitted over a single coaxial cable: composite video from camera, return video to camera, genlock to camera, power to camera, microphone audio from camera, auxiliary audio to camera, intercom to and from camera, camera control and tally to camera. The system is ideally suited for both permanently installed or mobile applications and eliminates the need for video equalizers, frame synchronizers, intercom adapters, microphone phantom power and remote power supplies. In addition to the benefits outlined above, the Coax/Fiber Link offers a convenient and cost-effective means of transmitting video from the camera to the base station. The transmission medium is either a second coaxial cable or a single mode fiber optic cable. Several options are available as described in Options. Ref. BASESTATI 55C-BS Options over Coax This is the most cost-effective option for transmission distances within several hundreds feet. No additional equipment is required. All that is needed is a second coax cable running alongside the main coax cable. Note: Only high quality digital video cable should be used for transmission. The maximum transmission distance depends on the cable selected. Please contact the cable manufacturer to find out the maximum transmission distance for specific cable. For some Belden cables please refer to the table below or visit: http://www.belden.com/pdfs/techpprs/maximum_transmission_distance_at_serial_digital_data_rates.pdf Switcher (Third party equipment) COMM CAMERA CTROL SYSTEM Base Station 55D-BS Cable Type Belden P/N RG-59/U 1505 A RG-6/U N/A RG-11/U Maximum Cable Distance for 1694 A 1794 A 7731 A AWG 20 18 16 14 OD (in) 0.233 0.274 0.320 0.400 SD (feet) (meters) 1111 339 308 94 1339 408 364 111 1763 2041 Length HD (feet) (meters) 537 478 146 622 546 166 over Fiber For distances longer than those mentioned above, the Coax/Fiber Link utilizes fiber optic technology. The video from the camera is converted into optical signal at the camera adapter, transmitted over the fiber optic cable, and converted back to electrical signal at the HD Fiber Link Base Station. The fiber optic cable can be part of a hybrid coax/fiber cable or a separate cable running alongside the main coax cable. Two camera adapter options - one using standard BNC and ST connectors, and the other one using heavy duty hybrid connector - are available. Ref.
