Since our official opening in April 2013 we have welcomed more than 1,000 audience members to our wonderful theatre. They have enjoyed both professional and amateur performances and in September we were overjoyed to welcome the West End hit show Horrible Histories on its first leg of a national tour. Our autumn-winter programme introduces our first stand up comedy night, featuring Perrier nominated comic Terry Alderton (watch his act at our theatre before he becomes an Eastenders soap star). We welcome tribute act Pop-Up Bowie in November, who will be performing songs from the musician s back catalogue as well as his recent Mercury Prize nominated album. We also have a real treat for Shakespeare fans with the hugely celebrated Reduced Shakespeare Company performing as part of their UK National Tour. As part of their The Complete Works of William Shakespeare show all 37 of the Bard s plays will be performed in 97 minutes. So please embrace our new theatre and come and experience its unique atmosphere for yourselves. We are on a mission to become a big name on the region s cultural and entertainment map and hope you join us on this journey. STAGE
04 BOX OFFICE: 01945 474447 WWW.ACT-THEATRE.CO.UK 05 Stand Up Comedy night featuring Terry Alderton Saturday 19 October 7.30pm Pop-Up Bowie Saturday 2 November 7.30pm He was sensational, a powerhouse who had the whole audience on their feet at the end. It was inspiring to see a man reduce an audience to tears. Michael McIntyre This is a mainstream act that dares to be different, that comes from the soul. Effortlessly enjoyable, yet excitingly different. The Times One of the best live shows I ve ever seen! Frank Skinner The Act Theatre s first ever stand up comedy show is headlined by rising comedy star, Terry Alderton. Terry is one of the most exciting comedians around, regularly performing all over the globe. He has been Perrier nominated in Edinburgh and recently won the 3 Weeks Critics award. He has worked with Joan Rivers and Eddie Izzard, who proclaimed him to be a very funny comic with a fantastic comedy mind, but someone who really ought to seek some sort of professional help. Also performing on the bill are the Two Johns, a new act, described by Keith Allen as Astoundingly Good, and as The future of comedy! by Jon Richardson. This is a new double act with comedian/ singer Johnny Spurling (and someone known only as John ). It s old school vaudeville meets the future of entertainment, with songs, madness, and a removal of the fourth wall... well not just removed, smashed to pieces! MC Chris Gilbert will also be appearing. We have a treat for all Bowie fans as award-winning tribute act Pop-Up Bowie will be performing at our venue this autumn. Sing along with some classic and new hits as Paul Anthony brings the essence of Bowie to the stage. The 60 minute set will feature hit numbers such as Heroes, Life on Mars and Dancing in the Street. There will also be tracks from the latest Mercury Prize nominated album. This is Pop-Up Bowie s first appearance in Wisbech and Paul Antony is keen to perform at our venue. He said: The show has something for everyone, from established fans to those who have just discovered the man and his music. Bowie is such a great artist and his appeal is just as strong, following his recent number one album The Next Day. I have always been a passionate fan and have spent a huge amount of time perfecting my act, even changing the hand I hold the microphone with to emulate Bowie. Tickets 15 Concessions available.
