AABB Trademark Usage Guidelines AABB's Philosophy on Trademarks AABB's trademarks, service marks, member logos and accreditation logos, currently consist of the AABB logo, AABB logo with Member, AABB logo with Accreditation, and AABB tagline Advancing Transfusion and Cellular Therapies Worldwide, including those used by AABB in the future (collectively the Logos ), are AABB s intellectual property. They are important and valuable assets of the association and must be used properly. The strength of AABB s corporate identity is preserved through maintaining the integrity of the Logos design elements and consistency of use. The quality and nature of AABB s services are identified by its Logos. As such, all references to AABB and use of the Logos must be truthful, fair, and not misleading, and comply with these Guidelines, which may be modified by AABB from time to time in AABB's sole discretion. It is essential that these Guidelines be properly followed in internal and external communications, documents and electronic messages. To Whom Do These Guidelines Apply? These Guidelines apply to AABB employees, AABB Institutional Members in good standing, outside vendors and other third parties. Using AABB's Trademarks, Logos and Taglines Unless otherwise set forth in these Guidelines, written approval must be given by AABB to use any AABB Logos. All use must be in accordance with the rules, instructions and the limited license contained in these Guidelines. Only Institutional Members who are accredited by AABB and in good standing may use the AABB Accreditation Logo. Once approved, Institutional Members may use the AABB Accreditation Logo on stationery, letterhead, business cards, advertisements, general business correspondence and their official Web sites. The privilege to use any AABB Logo is immediately terminated if an institution loses its accreditation, or its AABB member status, for any reason including failure to pay membership dues, uses any AABB Logo improperly or in a manner that adversely affects AABB in any manner. Unauthorized use of the Logos may result in legal action. Affiliate members may not use AABB Logos in any form or for any purpose. The appropriate trademark symbol and trademark acknowledgment of AABB's ownership of the Logos in question must be used. AABB Logos should not be incorporated into product names, service names, trademarks, logos or company names. Logos that are confusingly similar to AABB's should not be adopted.
The AABB tagline, Advancing Transfusion and Cellular Therapies Worldwide, should be used on official association materials and never without the AABB Logo. The AABB Logos may not be modified in any way. Their use must be exactly as depicted on the instructions, including same font size, colors, spacing and proportions. Unlicensed use of AABB's Logos is not permitted. Any use of AABB Logos except as authorized in these Guidelines requires written permission from AABB. Improper or unauthorized use of any nature and/or an Institutional Member s failure to properly maintain its membership status may, in AABB s sole discretion, result in revocation of the license to use AABB Logos. Trademark License Provided that you are an Institutional Member of AABB in good standing or have obtained written permission from AABB in strict compliance with AABB s Trademark Usage Guidelines, AABB grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-sublicenseable license to use certain AABB Logos. AABB may request that you discontinue using the Logos and/or substitute new or different Logos, in which case you will promptly comply. You must not take any action inconsistent with or challenge AABB s ownership of the Logos and AABB owns and is entitled to claim any benefits accruing from use of the Logos. You must not register or attempt to register any Logos. Title to and ownership of the Logos and all goodwill associated with the Logos shall at all times remain with AABB. You must use the Logos exactly in the form provided and in conformance with AABB s Trademark Usage Guidelines. (Prior to your use of the Logos on goods or services, you shall submit samples for AABB s approval. AABB may suspend or terminate this license if, in its sole discretion, your use of the Logos does not conform to AABB s Trademark Usage Guidelines, the most recent version of which may be found at www.aabb.org), is otherwise objectionable to AABB for any reason and/or if AABB stops using the Logos. In such event you must immediately stop all use of the Logos and return to AABB any material, goods or other documentation in your possession or control which contains the Logos and shall certify to AABB that you no longer have in your possession or control any capability of reproducing the Logos. AABB disclaims all liability to you, your clients, customers and any other third party, relating to the Logos, your use of the Logos, or the goods or services you provide. You agree to indemnify, defend and hold AABB harmless from any and all costs, damages, expenses or losses of any nature (including reasonable attorney s fees) resulting from any claim arising out of your use of the Logos. The Logos are provided AS-IS without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of noninfringement or regarding the validity of AABB s rights in any country. AABB disclaims any and all warranties that may be otherwise implied by applicable law. In no event shall AABB be liable for any direct or indirect damages, including, but not limited to those for lost profits or business interruption, speculative, consequential, incidental, special,
punitive or exemplary damages, specifically excluding same to the extent awarded pursuant to a third party infringement claim, irrespective of whether the claim is in contract or tort and/or AABB has advance written notice of the possibility of such damages. Notwithstanding the foregoing, in no event shall AABB s liability for your use of the Logos exceed $5. Some states do not allow exclusion of consequential or incidental damages, so some of the foregoing may not apply to you.
Instructions for Proper Use of AABB Trademarks, Logos and Taglines AABB Logo (with Tagline) The entire Logo must be used and may not be altered in any way. The AABB Logo should be printed using the following colors: PMS 534 and Cool Gray 11. Black or white on a colored background may also be used. The official AABB Logo (PMS 534) includes the tagline (Cool Gray 11) and is two-color. No changes in font type or layout are acceptable. AABB Tagline Usage The AABB tagline must be used with the AABB Logo and only on official association or other approved materials. The tagline should never appear without the AABB Logo. Color: The PMS color for the tagline is Cool Gray 11. Format: Always use the stacked configuration as provided. Do not create a one-line version. Font: Frutiger Condensed Bold Italics AABB Member Logo The entire Logo must be used and may not be altered in anyway. The AABB Member Logo should be printed using the following colors: PMS 534 and Cool Gray 11. Black or white on a colored background may also be used. No changes in font type or layout are acceptable. Accreditation Logo The entire Logo must be used and may not be altered in anyway. The Accreditation Logo should be printed using PMS 534. Black or white on a colored background may also be used. No changes in font type or layout are acceptable. Annual Meeting Logo The entire logo must be used and may not be altered in anyway. The Annual Meeting Logo is always a four-color Logo and should always appear in this format. No changes in font type or layout are acceptable. Consulting Services The entire logo must be used and may not be altered in anyway. The Consulting Services Logo is a two-color logo and should be printed using Cool Gray 9 and PMS 194. Black or white on a colored background may also be used. No changes in font type or layout are acceptable. National Blood Exchange The entire logo must be used and may not be altered in anyway. The National Blood Exchange Logo is a two-color logo and should be printed using PMS 289 and PMS 193. Black or white on a colored background may also be used. Relationship of the Identity Elements to One Another/Size The fonts, letter spacing, word spacing and relationship of the Logos in the AABB corporate identity have been carefully designed to create a unique impression. Using the art as provided will ensure that the integrity of the identity is preserved. Never typeset any of the Logos to create a custom look. Do not attempt to recreate the logos, as they may be accidentally modified, altered or distorted. The size of the Logos is at the discretion of the user, however, they should not be reduced to such an extent that it is difficult to read all of their elements. Summary of Key Points When using any AABB Logo, the following points must be followed: - Use the electronic file provided. - The AABB Logo may be used in two ways Logo and tagline together or just the Logo. - Tagline usage must be refrained to the stacked configuration as provided. Do not create a one-line version of the tagline. - The Accreditation and Member Logos may be used only as provided. - A minimum of a ½ white space should surround any Logo. - Please follow color guidelines as outlined above. - - Ensure that the Logos are always legible when reproduced. If they cannot be read at an arm s length, they are too small. - When sizing the Logos, reduce or enlarge the graphic in equal percentages both horizontally and vertically. - Do not tip, slant or rotate the Logos. - Do not add or apply any graphical treatments to the Logos.
