WHSFA State One-Act Festival Technical Information UW-Stevens Point November 17-19, 2016 The Department of Theatre and Dance of UW-Stevens Point welcomes you to the 2016 Wisconsin High School Theatre Festival at the Noel Fine Arts Center. Stages have been divided into six areas as indicated on the ground plans. There is basic color control over each individual area. There is a choice of using either warm (day or interior) and/or cool (night). One follow spot will be available for your use but you must provide an operator. A lighting technician will be assigned to you upon your arrival. Sound A system with a CD player is provided, and a line input (mini phone, 1/4 or RCA connector) is available should you bring another sound source such as an ipod. Two wired microphones, one located stage right and one stage left are available for use. The stage manager assigned to your school will handle on-site Sound questions. Homeroom During your homeroom/prep time a Stage Manager and a Lighting Technician will meet with you and discuss your specific needs. Be prepared at this time to start the cueing process so we can utilize staff and equipment to their fullest. Please do not come to the control booth prior to your set up time since that time is reserved for another school. Our Stage Manager will make sure you get to the stage and will be on hand to answer all questions pertaining to technical needs during your set up time.
Documentation On the ground plan provided, draw placement of all scenic elements you will bring. Please represent these items in two dimensions in approximate size. All scenic elements must be placed within the six lettered areas to be illuminated. Check off technical items you will be using. No furniture, costumes, props, or scenic pieces will be available from the host university. Load-in and Load-Out Jenkins Theatre Load-in for Jenkins Theatre is at the south side of the Noel Fine Arts Center on Portage St. The loading dock is near the middle of the building. Unload through the corridor and into the elevator. A sign will be posted. Take the elevator to the second floor and unload in the corridor outside Jenkins Theatre. DO NOT ENTER BACKSTAGE UNTIL A CREW MEMBER INSTRUCTS YOU TO DO SO. There will be a performance in progress. Move scenery from the corridor to backstage when so instructed. Set up scenery on stage when so instructed. Strike all scenery down stage on to the orchestra pit elevator which will carry you down to the ground floor, where you will then move out the trap room to Portage Street. Your UWSP Host will help direct you. Michelsen Theatre Load-in for Michelsen Theatre is at the north side of the Noel Fine Arts Center in Parking Lot E, off Isadore Street. Unload through the double doors at the Northwest corner of the building. A sign will be posted. Turn right as soon as you clear the doors. The elevator is at the end of the corridor. Take the elevator to the second floor, then turn left. The staging area will be at the bottom of the stairs outside Michelsen Theatre. DO NOT ENTER THE STAGE UNTIL A CREW MEMBER INSTRUCTS YOU TO DO SO. There will be a performance in progress. Strike will be stage left. There is a staircase on the right down the corridor. If items are too heavy to carry down stairs safely, continue to the end of the corridor and turn right. The elevator is located at the center of the building. Your UWSP Host will help direct you. We hope that this festival year will be as successful as past years. Please return the technical information sheet with your ground plan it will better help us to prepare for you.
