Adverbs of manner This lesson is about adverbs of manner. Adverbs of manner describe how we do something. He screamed loudly. 4

Adverbs of manner Adverbs of manner describe how we do something or how something happens. Regular adverbs are formed by adding ly to an adjective. Sometimes a small change in spelling is necessary to add ly. Look at happy and gentle. quiet loud quick slow happy gentle He spoke quietly. He spoke loudly. He ran quickly. He ran slowly. He smiled happily. He spoke gently. 5

Placement of adverbs of manner Adverbs of manner are usually placed either after the main verb or after its object.
