3 / 17 INTRODUCTION TO MANTOVA CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL Announcing in 2016 its fourth, the Mantova Chamber Music Festival is regarded as one of the most innovative formats for the dissemination of music culture in Italy. It is considered a landmark for the quality of its program, the novelty of its organization and the enthusiastic participation of internationally renowned musicians and lecturers. The main aim of the Festival is to give the visitors of Mantua s historical sites, part of the UNESCO World Heritage, high-quality musical programs presented by experts in an informal, amusing yet accurate way. Visitors have the opportunity to listen to dozens of concerts in rooms similar in structure, size and acoustic quality to those in which the masterpieces of chamber music were conceived and composed. Music lovers finally finds here a more authentic listening dimension. The fourth of the Festival is scheduled from June 1 to 5, 2016. 4 / 17 LA NASCITA DEL FESTIVAL E IL PUBBLICO RAGGIUNTO The Mantova Chamber Music Festival is organized by the Orchestra da Camera di Mantova (OCM) cultural association and ensemble of excellence that operates at international level since 1984 and by the Direction of the Museum of the Ducal Palace of Mantua. The Mantova Chamber Music Festival originated in 2013 with the intent of boosting the local tourism industry, at that time recessing because of a the damages caused by a sudden earthquake in May 2012. The earthquake critically damaged the city s historic buildings, forcing the local administration to close part of them to public. As a consequence, the number of visitors fell down. The first of the Festival, which included hundreds of short concerts set in the still usable rooms of these buildings, brought almost 10,000 people to rediscover the city. The 2nd Mantova Chamber Music Festival (2014) welcomed a doubled number of visitors a total of 20,000 attendees. In 2015, those rooms of the Ducal Palace which have the highest attraction power in the eyes of international tourism were re-opened to public among them, the renowned Camera Picta of Andrea Mantegna. In 2015, the Festival received the wonderous number of 41,000 visitors (+ 100%).

7 / 17 E TARGET The target of the Festival are individuals, groups, students, families, music/art lovers and, especially, cultural tourists. The locations of the Festival are the spectacular rooms of Palazzo Ducale, Basilica di Santa Barbara, Rotonda di San Lorenzo and Teatro Bibiena. Here, hundreds of concerts are staged to give the audience the opportunity to benefit of the cultural heritage of the area in an unusual way, in view of a mutual enhancing between musical excellence and historical heritage. The large number of visitors from outside the province and from abroad provides significant and tangible impact on tourist facilities in the period of the event and is an important vehicle for the promotion of the city, its structures and commercial enterprises on the territory.
