I am thrilled about the top-notch teams that we ve assembled and cannot wait for our season to begin, says Artistic Director Ashlie Corcoran. We celebrate our 35 th anniversary this year by sharing stories from acclaimed Canadian playwrights, co-producing with theatres from across the country, and collaborating with our nation s finest artists. The season kicks off with the explosive story of the baby boom generation. BOOM (May 24 June 10) is a oneman multimedia tour de force written, directed, and performed by Rick Miller, who was last seen at TIP in Bigger than Jesus (2008). Next, the red-hot rock and roll musical MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET (June 16 July 15) takes over the Springer Theatre with the music of Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley. The show will be directed by TIP Associate Artistic Director Rob Kempson and features a cast of talented musicians and actors all making their TIP debut, including Pieter Huyer, Queen s University graduate Shruti Kothari, Calvin Laveck, Kingston-based artist Jesse MacMillan, Jason O Brien, Jonathan Patterson, Michael Vanhevel, and Joshua Wiles. It is produced in association with Sudbury Theatre Centre, Sudbury, ON. The Firehall Theatre season opens with the story behind Canada s most famous romance, MAGGIE AND PIERRE (July 7 30). Rob Kempson will direct this one-woman show starring Kaitlyn Riordan, a member of our 2015 Playwrights Unit. The farce LEADING LADIES (July 21 August 19) will bring many familiar faces back to the Springer Theatre, including Bruce Horak (Assassinating Thomson - 2016, Dear Johnny Deere - 2015), Andrew Kushnir (Bed and Breakfast - 2015, Spelling Bee - 2013), and Alison MacDonald (Patsy Cline - 2016, The Pirates of Penzance - 2015, She Loves Me - 2014). Sophia Fabiilli, who grew up in Kingston, is making her TIP debut in the show alongside Kingston resident and longtime TIP collaborator Anne Hardcastle. The play will be directed by Ashlie Corcoran. The second show in the Firehall Theatre is ONLY DRUNKS AND CHILDREN TELL THE TRUTH, a comedy about two Indigenous sisters finding their way back to each other. This co-production with Western Canada Theatre, Kamloops, BC is directed by Lisa C. Ravensbergen and features a cast of Indigenous artists making their TIP debut; Dakota Hebert, Taran Kootenhayoo, Aren Okemaysim, and Joelle Peters.

Next, the first play produced at TIP in 1982 returns to the Springer Theatre in honour of the organization s 35 th anniversary. The Shakespearean farce THE COMEDY OF ERRORS (August 25 September 16), directed by Daryl Cloran (Patsy Cline - 2016, The Importance of Being Earnest - 2014, Boeing Boeing - 2013), features TIP veterans Tess Degenstein (A Grand Time in the Rapids - 2016, The Importance of Being Earnest - 2014, Boeing Boeing - 2013) and Alison Deon (Don t Dress for Dinner - 2015, The Importance of Being Earnest 2014, Boeing Boeing - 2013), and Kingston-native Jacob James (Billy Bishop Goes to War - 2011).
