Security to the property was via a Comelit VIP door entry system and a network of sixteen external and internal Lilin security cameras delivered in HD to every TV. A Texecom Premiere Elite Alarm system covered 94 zones and was linked to the automation system for personalized experiences dependent on user code, with even a panic button in the sauna linked to the multi-room audio system in case of emergency. Control4 integration enabled control of the entire system from any room in the property with fingerprint scanners in zones enabling lighting to be activated and audio personalized to the person who entered the room, including a motorized vehicle turntable in the garage controllable by a smart phone, watch or in-wall keypad using Control4.
Although the developer initially wanted seven televisions installed throughout the property, John Schaffer s extensive experience told him that a prospective buyer of a property of this size would most likely want to install more that eight HD zones and, even more likely, more than eight HD sources, so a matrix solution that could accommodate this flexibility would be required. Given the project requirements and size of the property we chose WyreStorm s MX- 1616-PP-POH 16x16 HDBaseT matrix PoH to handle delivery of all possible content to various zones. Among the obvious advantages of making potentially 16 sources available to up to 16 rooms, by having centralized source equipment CTS were able to completely eliminate cables and clutter from zones. The result was simply flush, wall-mounted televisions able to access a multitude of sources via the single Cat6 cable installed out of sight in the wall. Furthermore, the PoH feature on the WyreStorm matrix that enabled remote powering of the WyreStorm low-profile receivers in display zones allowed CTS to fit televisions at high level, as flush to the wall as possible for optimum installation, as Schaffer notes. The PoH feature of the matrix was extremely attractive when deciding on the solution as it reduced installation time and cleanliness of the end product. The MX-1616-PP-POH also really came into play when CTS set up a House Viewing mode for the developers when they were demonstrating to potential buyers. Through integration with the Control4 Home Automation system, each room in the house can activate an appropriate scene at the touch of a button. This included lighting and audio to suit the mood of the room and the televisions turning on to various different sources CCTV in the study, Sky news in the kitchen, Sky movies in the bedroom, Blu-ray in the living room all in stunning HD quality.
The performance, reliability and sheer quality of WyreStorm s HDBaseT transmission was very impressive and really helped achieve our goal of making movie time in this room a luxury. Cinema Paradiso In a property full of incredible spaces, the basement-located 4K UltraHD cinema room is arguably its most impressive. Stylishly decorated and exceptionally comfortable with rich fabrics, plush textures and memorabilia harkening back to the golden age of Hollywood, the cinema room was designed for pure escapism to make the viewer lose themselves in the magic of the movies to such an extent that they never want to leave. Not wanting to detract from the atmosphere created by the room and decor, the technology was kept out of sight with subtle placement of the Sonance speaker system comprising five in-wall and four ceiling speakers and a pair of subwoofers. CTS used a WyreStorm EX-35-4K HDBaseT 4K UHD extender to distribute the glorious 4K UHD content some 35m/115ft from the centrally located Samsung UHD Blu-ray player, Sonance subwoofer power amplifier connected through the Pioneer AV receiver outputting 7.2.2 Dolby Atmos Surround Sound. This was in turn delivered to the discreetly installed JVC UHD Projector and onto the huge 3 meter Fixed Acoustically Transparent screen in the cinema room to totally immerse the occupants in the cinematic experience. Schaffer notes, the WyreStorm 4K UHD extender allowed us keep the AVR with all other equipment in a centralized location away from the room itself, which minimized furniture in the room so focus could be firmly placed on the entertainment experience we wanted to create. Also, the PoH functionality of the extender meant the receiver at the projector point could be remotely powered from the transmitter in the rack so installation was literally plug and play. Schaffer continued: The performance, reliability and sheer quality of WyreStorm s HDBaseT transmission was very impressive and really helped us achieve our goal without any compromise; making movie time in this room a luxury for the homeowner. With Control4 integration CTS could set personalized user experiences, for example enable the room lights to dim and movie begin all at the touch of a button from the comfort of the sofa.
On completion of the project, Schaffer had this to say: This was an interesting project as, although a luxury residence, the client was the developer and prospective seller rather than a new owner and end-user of the technology installed. As such the solution we provided needed to have the high level of features, functionality and wow-factor that would impress potential buyers but would also be highly customizable and practical so a new owner could easily tailor the entire house to their own personal experience. Schaffer reports feedback CTS received from the developer on the project was extremely positive.
