INT. HOTEL ROOM - NIGHT Ernie is finishing setting up his camera when Tanya knocks on the door. Just a second. He opens the door and Tanya enters. Hi there. Hello, are you Ernie? Yes, Tanya, right? Yes. Tanya takes of her coat and sets it on the bed. She sees the camera. Okay, this is what I was thinking; we re both under the covers... Are you taking pictures? Yes. Oh, okay. You know that will cost extra, right? Sure, no problem. (pause) So, we re under the covers... Having sex. Yes, I mean no. It will only look like we re having sex. No sex?
No. No sex of any kind. (pause) The camera will be on a timer. When the red light stops flashing, I ll leap forward, like I m trying to stop it from happening. He demonstrates his fake surprise movement toward the camera. And you ll look at the camera as if you re totally surprised. He demonstrates that for her, as well. (puzzled) Why? So, it looks like we were just caught having sex. Why don t we just have sex? You can take as many pictures as you want. Oh no, I would never have sex with a prostitute... uh, no offense. No offense taken... I think? Alright, get into bed while I set the timer. Ernie begins to fiddle with the camera as Tanya begins to undress. When Ernie is finished, he turns and sees Tanya undressing. He shields his eyes and... Whoa, whoa... what are you doing? You want me naked, right? No... I can t be seen in bed with a naked girl. I m married.
Ernie is hesitant. Okay, I am totally confused? I can rely on your discretion? Of course. Ernie leads her to sit at the edge of the bed as she redresses. Look, Ernie, why don t we just go out to dinner. I ll have the waiter take pictures of us together. A young attractive woman on your arm will get plenty of people talking. But that s not really a scandal. I know, but you should never underestimate the power of people s imagination, the power of Gossip.
