TARZAN 2015 Registration Packet Schedule Times subject to change Dear Parent/Guardian & Participant, Thank you for enrolling your student in our upcoming production of TARZAN 2015. During this memorable experience, your student will gain confidence, work cooperatively with others, and be responsible for meeting deadlines and expectations. This will be both fun and challenging while they learn about the essentials of acting, music, dance and stagecraft as well as theater history. We look forward to nurturing your student s imagination and creativity in a way your entire family will never forget! Sincerely, Bay Area Educational Theater Company What to Expect All students will be cast in an ensemble role regardless of whether or not a speaking role is offered to them. All students will perform in at least three ensemble numbers in the show. The audition process is a combined effort by the artistic staff and a board appointed representative. Speaking and specialty roles will be double cast wherever possible, allowing more students an opportunity to experience solo performing. As an ensemble-based theater group, ALL students will perform in ALL performances in the appropriate/assigned ensemble numbers whether or not they have a speaking or specialty role. We look forward to a great experience with you as we begin our 36th main stage production, TARZAN 2015. Please email tarzan@bayareaetc.org with any questions you may have. TARZAN 2015 Registration Packet S T U D E N T R E S P O N S I B I L I T I E S Students are expected to be on time and come to each rehearsal prepared to work. Five minutes early is on time. It is each student s responsibility to stay informed of schedule changes and production related information. Information can be found posted at each rehearsal, on the website, and in the weekly enewsletter. Each week, students are expected to have practiced what has been taught during the rehearsals. There may be homework assigned from time to time which may include written character development work. Written assignments should be completed and returned to rehearsals when due. Students must commit to listening carefully to the instructors. Each student must adhere to the e.t.c. Behavioral Guidelines included in their audition packets. Failure to do so will result in consequences. No gum, food or open drinks are allowed inside the rehearsal rooms or theater. Water bottles and healthy snacks are encouraged for break times during rehearsal, to be eaten in designated areas. No electronic games will be allowed during rehearsals. Dress code: Students will be required to wear loose clothes and appropriate shoes for dance, to be approved by the choreographer and director. Costumes: Make-up, costumes and shoes are the financial responsibility of each cast member based on the artistic team s concept. Students must agree to wear the full costume as directed by the costume designer and director; failure to do so will result in the student s removal from the role. Costuming requirements will be forthcoming early in the production process. Guidelines and deadlines for costumes will be provided by the Costume Committee Chair as directed by the Costume Designer. If specifically asked to purchase, rent, or create a special costume, each cast member is only responsible for the first 125.00, (this does not include shoes or make-up); Bay Area e.t.c. will cover any additional costume cost above that amount. Costume bills will be distributed prior to the closing show and must be paid by the closing performance. The costume charge is based on the complexity of the costume. P A R E N T / G U A R D I A N R E S P O N S I B I L I T I E S A distribution folder will be created for each student (or family). These folders will be available at each rehearsal and serve as a means of distributing critical information to parents and students. Please be sure to check the folder at each rehearsal it is each parent s responsibility to stay informed of schedule changes, committee and production related information. Information can be found at rehearsal, on the website, and in the weekly enewsletter. Parents/guardians are responsible for dropping off and picking up their children on time. Five minutes early is on time. Adhering to the e.t.c. Behavioral Guidelines for students is the responsibility of each parent and student. These guidelines are included in the audition packet and must be signed by the student and parents prior to auditions in order to participate in the production. Consistent lateness (arrival or pick-up) may result in reduced participation as well as clean up duty. MANDATORY Parent Meetings A parent/guardian of each new participant must attend one of the two New Parent meetings offered over the workshop and audition weekends. This is a one-hour meeting for new parents where we will welcome you to e.t.c., review what you and your student can expect, and go over your responsibilities. A parent/guardian of EACH participant (new or returning) must attend the volunteer meeting. e.t.c. relies on its volunteers to ensure a quality production; families are required to volunteer 25 hours between one preproduction committee (i.e. publicity, costumes, set construction) and one production committee (i.e. stage crew, house duties, back-stage chaperone). e.t.c. offers a 500 buyout option if a family is unable to volunteer 25 hours over the three month period. Nitty Gritty Days TBD Nitty Gritty Days are located at the e.t.c. warehouse and ALL families work together to build sets, making costumes, bundling flyers and delivering posters to help advertise the show. There will be a sign in sheet onsite to track participation. Nitty Gritty Days are mandatory and do not count toward volunteer hours. Bay Area e.t.c. is a non-profit organization and admits participants of any race, color and national or ethnic origin. www.bayareaetc.org (650) 332-4625 Connect with us! @bayareaetc #bayareaetc
