Getting Started 1. Insert batteries in the Remote Control. 2. Have an HD Set Top Box (STB)? Go to Page 3. 3. Have a Standard Definition TV or STB model #QIP2500? Go to Page 5. IMPORTANT NOTE: Do NOT plug your Set Top Box into the power outlet UNTIL you have read the activation instructions on Page 6. 2
HD & DVR Set Top Boxes Standard Installations Step2 1. Plug the wall coax cable into the RF IN or FiOS TV IN on your STB. 2. Connect the 3 black video plugs to the jacks of the same color on the STB (Video OUT) and TV (Video IN). 3. Plug the white audio connections into the jacks on the STB (Audio OUT) and TV (Audio IN). Connect both the right and left sides. 4. Connect the STB s power cord and plug it into the wall. Activation starts immediately. Automatic Activation of HD Set Top Box ACTIVATION STEPS 1. Plug the STB power cord into the wall to start Automatic Activation. This process can take up to 15 minutes. 2. Is your TV on? If not, turn it on now. 3. View the progress of your Automatic Activation on your TV screen. Note: Your STB will automatically turn off and on during this process. 4. Follow the instructions on the screen. If asked to choose HD or SD, choose HD. 5. Once you see a live TV picture, your STB is activated! A Verizon FiOS Set Top Box Activation Welcome to Verizon FiOS TV. Please wait while the Set Top Box performs automatic activation process. Activation in Progress... B SIMPLE TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS If your STB shows an activation failure, follow the on-screen troubleshooting prompts, if provided. If your STB shows no on-screen activity for over 15 minutes, unplug the STB power cable from the wall. Wait 15 seconds. Plug the STB cable back into the wall. Then repeat the steps above. Still need help? See Automatic Activation Troubleshooting on Page 7. Note: Set Top Box will reboot during the process. You will see multiple on-screen images like these during Automatic Activation. Note: If you ve tried Automatic Activation three times and it does not complete, see Page 8 for Manual Activation. 4
Standard Definition TV or STB Model #QIP2500 Installation Instructions 1. Plug the wall coax cable into RF IN on your STB. 2. Connect the second coax cable to the STB s TV/VCR output and the TV s Antenna, Cable or A/V input. 3. Connect the STB s power cord and plug it into the wall. Activation starts immediately. Auto Activation Troubleshooting REMOTE CONTROL Read Remote Control Guide in this box. View Help Videos on Channel 131 FiOS TV. Visit verizon.com/usingfios to program additional devices. TV PICTURE No picture or blue screen? Check STB and TV are turned on. Set TV to Channel 3 or 4, if using coax cable. With TV s remote, select the correct input channel. FiOS ROUTER Check router is turned on. Check router coax cable connection to the coax wall outlet. Confirm Power, WAN and Internet lights are green. If not, turn router off, then back on. Now unplug the STB Power Cable for 15 seconds and plug back in. If Auto Activation fails, go to Page 8 for manual activation. HOME THEATER OR DVD Visit verizon.com/fiostvwiring to connect DVD players and home theaters. Still not working? Call 1.800.VERIZON for technical help. 7
Manual Activation IF YOUR STB DID NOT AUTO ACTIVATE, ACTIVATE IT MANUALLY. 1. Enter the Equipment Activation Code from your packing slip + your ZIP Code + the quantity of STB(s). 2. Got more than one STB? Connect plugs for all STBs now. This process will activate all your STBs at once. 3. IMPORTANT: Turn on the TV using the button on the TV set. 4. Install batteries in the Verizon Remote Control. 5. Press STB Power on the Verizon Remote Control. Make sure STB light is ON. 6. To complete activation, visit verizon.com/fiostv/selfinstall or call 1.888.897.7499. STB activation takes 15 minutes. Your STB is activated when it turns itself off. 7. Turn TV back on and select Channel 3 with TV remote. 8. Turn on STB using Verizon Remote Control. Equipment Activation Code 8

Or download an even more powerful tool at verizon.com/inhomeagent to manage your FiOS services and features including: TV Troubleshoot STB issues. Internet Add computers to your wireless network, manage e-mail services, optimize network performance or troubleshoot connectivity problems. Phone Retrieve voice mail access number, set up multiple mailboxes or manage customized features. To troubleshoot or learn more about your FiOS service, click on the Internet, TV or Phone icons on your In-Home Agent screen. 9
