Section 1 Document Descriptions 1.1 Purpose of this Document solution. This document described the overall function, feature and application mode of the ZQ-V8 1.2 Nomenclature of this Document LED display screen manufacturers use a variety of terms to describe common items. This section will briefly define how we use each of the terms in question. Software In this manual, software means LED Manager. Users can download it from www.zdec.com, or get it from Zhong Qing s sales. Hardware In this manual, hardware means the main physical equipment in ZQ-V8 system. Users can get it from Zhong Qing s sales. Firmware In this manual, firmware means the logical program in transmitting card or receiving card. When need to upgrade the firmware, users can download it from www.zdec.com, or get it from Zhong Qing s sales. Configuration Data The Configuration file used to store system structure or LED unit structures, this file can be created by LED management tool. Frame Rate It is a number of frames per second in the video data of data source output. Display Rate It is the times of LED in light per second, the reciprocal of this value we called display cycle. Refresh Rate 2
The display cycle is divided into several sub-display cycle It is the reciprocal of sub-display cycle. Brightness and Deepness It is the date bits of brightness value, which is after gamma corrected, usually we also call it gray scale level Pixel It is a group of LED that is logically wired as a single unit. Pixels are composed of at least one red, one green, and one blue LED, but can include additional LED of any color. Module It is the smallest rectangular LED array with data input and output port. Cabinet It is a rectangular array of Modules placed in a box. Usually the box contains a sub-controller which is used to distribute the display data among modules. Screen An array of Cabinets,which is composed of modules or cabinets of any number of rows and columns. 3
Section 2 Solution Overview 2.1 General Description ZQ-V8 solution designed to provide an exoteric and comprehensive control platform of LED display system. ZQ-V8 solution is used to the area of common screen control. It is compose of powerful software product and stable hardware system. It supports the display module with constant current drive. The most prominent feature of ZQ-V8 solution is that the customer will get lower cost and higher performance without changing of the hardware structure. 2.2 Features and Functions 2.2.1 Support DVI, HDMI data source input The input port of Transmitting Card is DVI port, which supports DVI 1.0 input. By the physical cable, it also can support the HDMI 1.3 input. 2.2.2 Support a variety of input resolution Transmitting Card supports a variety of input resolutions: 640 * 480, 800 * 600, 1024 * 768, 1280 * 800, 1280 * 1024, 1366 * 768, 1440 * 900, 1600 * 900, 1600 * 1200, 1680 * 1050, 1920 * 1080. It also supports a variety of frame rates, the typical frame rate is 60Hz. 2.2.3 Support 10-bit color The number of color bit which is Transmitting Card supported, is 8-bit and the maximum is 10-bit, the maximum number of colors is 1024 * 1024 * 1024=1,073,741,824. 2.2.4Long-distance transmission Connect the controllers with ultra-five twisted pair which is made in accordance with the international standard order, ensuring the transmission distance can reach 100 meters. It also supports long distance optical fiber transmission by photoelectric converter. 2.2.5 Powerful software LED Management 2010 (version 8.0.0 or above) has powerful control and play functions, you can easy to control the LED screen and play programs. 4
2.2.6 Intelligent check equipment status Software can check the connection status of equipments at any time. 2.2.7 Large load capacity When frame rate is 30Hz, the maximum load capacity of transmitting card is 2.07 million pixels (the maximum output width is 1920 pixels and the maximum output height is 1080 pixels). When frame rate is 60Hz, the maximum load capacity of transmitting card is 1.31 million pixels. 2.2.8 Smart-PWM System has the unique technique of Smart-PWM. It makes the general modules have ultrahigh refresh rate by this technology (the maximum speed is 128 times). Thus, the screen is more stable, the display effect is perfect. 2.2.9 High gray scale When the clock frequency is 18.8MHz, for the static LED screen, the grayscale can be reached 65536 when the refresh frequency is 4200Hz, for the scan LED screen, take the typical 8 scans LED screen for example, the grayscale can be reached 8192 when the display frequency is 1650Hz. 2.2.10 Support multiple scans The system supports the module with the following scan number: 1,2,4,8,16. 2.2.11 Support for multiple resolutions The system supports the module with following width:8 16 24 32 40 48 56 64. 2.2.12 Support the correction of brightness and color temperature System supports the correction of brightness with 100 levels and color temperature with 256 levels. 2.2.13 Test function Receiving Card supports the screen test function. After restarting, you can use it to test the screen without the Transmitting Card. The test function includes diagonal testing and gray testing. 2.2.14 Environment detector function With environment detector the system can detect the environmental parameters, includes: brightness temperature and humidity. The system supports standard Environmental sensor, works more stable, more accurate. 5
2.2.15 On-line set data Configuration data can easily be set by software. 2.2.16 On-line upgrade firmware System maintenance is more convenient. Section 3 Solution applications Single transmitting card can supports 1,310,720 pixels in 60Hz refresh rate, which is 1280 1024 @ 60Hz. So we usually use the single transmitting card solution for the normal screen. 3.1 Typical applications Fig. 2-1 typical single transmitting card application Solution Description: See Fig. 2-1, equipment 1 is a computer, equipment 2 is a transmitting card, equipment 3 is receiving card, and equipment 4 is an Environment detector. Transmitting card has two output ports: U and D ports. The transmitting cards are connected serially and you can access the Environment detector in U or D ports. Environment detector can monitor the environment brightness, temperature and humidity in real time for each LED screen. Each port of the transmitting card can cascade 200 equipments at most. Features: This system is simple and flexible. It can set the screen brightness automatically according the current environment, which is measured Environment detector. So the system can makes the LED screen always keeping the best working condition. 7
3.2 Redundance applications Fig. 2-2 single transmitting card port redundancy Solution Description: See Fig. 2-2, equipment 1 is computer, equipment 2 is transmitting card, equipment 3 is receiving card, and equipment 5 is photoelectric converter. The equipments are connected with unshielded twisted pair (CAT-5E), and the farthest transmission distance is 100 meters; more than 100 meters, we suggest that use optical fiber to transmit: Use the unshielded twisted pair, photoelectric converter and optical fiber to connect the equipments. The transmission distance of multimode fiber is 500 meters and the transmission distance of single mode fiber can reach 10 kilometers. The transmitting card has two output ports port U and port D,which can back up each other. The transmitting card respectively transmits the date from port U and port D to the receiving card port A and port B. So when one transmission line has some problems, another line can back up instantly, the screen can still display in normal, this is the redundancy function. It should be noted that the redundancy function is based on the output of transmitting card, if the transmitting card went wrong, the screen may display in error. Solution feature: The system supports long distance transmission, and has redundancy backup 8
function, when one of the signal transmitting pathways is in error, the system can automatically switch to the other pathway, to ensure that the LED screen display in normal, the system more reliable. 9
