Section 1 Document Descriptions 1.1 Version Descriptions Version date Remark V0.1 2011-5-25 Original edition 1.2 Nomenclature of this Document LED display screen manufacturers use a variety of terms to describe common items. This section will briefly define how we use each of the terms in question. Software In this manual, software means LED Manager. Hardware In this manual, hardware means the main physical equipment in ZQ-V8 system. Firmware In this manual, firmware means the logical program in transmitting card or receiving card. Frame Rate It is a number of frames per second in the video data of data source output. Display Rate It is the times of LED in light per second, the reciprocal of this value we called display cycle. Refresh Rate The display cycle is divided into several sub-display cycle It is the reciprocal of sub-display cycle. Gray level It is the date bits of brightness value, which is after gamma corrected, usually we also call it brightness depth. Module It is the smallest rectangular LED array with data input and output port. Cabinet 4

It is a rectangular array of Modules placed in a box. Usually the box contains a sub-controller which is used to distribute the display data among modules. Screen An array of Cabinets, which is composed of modules or cabinets of any number of rows and columns. 5

Section 2 Solution Overview 2.1 General Description V9A01 is the new-generation solution for LED Screen. It not only continues the feature of high reliability and high-performance but also provides many useful new features. It can effectively extend the life of LED Screen, save more energy and make the LED screen easier to design, production, manufacture, use and maintenance. 2.2 Features and Functions 2.2.1 Easy to Design, Production and Manufacture 2.2.1.1 Support DVI, HDMI data source input The input port of Transmitting Card is DVI port, which supports DVI 1.0 input. By the physical cable, it also can support the HDMI 1.3 input. 2.2.1.2 Support a variety of input resolution and frame rate Transmitting Card supports a variety of input resolutions: 640 * 480, 800 * 600, 1024 * 768, 1280 * 800, 1280 * 1024, 1366 * 768, 1440 * 900, 1600 * 900, 1600 * 1200, 1680 * 1050, 1920 * 1080. It also supports a variety of frame rates, the typical frame rate is 60Hz. 2.2.1.3 Large load capacity When frame rate is 30Hz, the maximum load capacity of transmitting card is 2.36 million pixels (the maximum output width is 1920 pixels and the maximum output height is 1080 pixels). When frame rate is 60Hz, the maximum load capacity of transmitting card is 1.31 million pixels. 2.2.1.4 Long-distance transmission Connect the controllers with ultra-five twisted pair which is made in accordance with the international standard order, ensuring the transmission distance can reach 100 meters. 6

It also supports long distance optical fiber transmission by photoelectric converter. 2.2.1.5 Environmental monitoring function The system supports industrial environment detector probe, it can measure the environmental parameters, includes: brightness temperature and humidity. 2.2.1.6 Brightness uniformity correction This system supports a variety of screen correction mode, such as factory correction and worksite correction. Using the SLR camera or third-party optical equipment measures the brightness, the correction data can be easily sent to the controller by software. 2.2.1.7 Color uniformity correction This system supports a variety of screen correction mode, such as factory correction and worksite correction. Using the third-party optical equipment measures the color, the correction data can be easily sent to the controller by software. 2.2.1.8 Fast and flexible screen connection The cabinet connection is simple and flexible. You can quickly set the actual the connection by control software. 2.2.1.9 On-line set data Configuration data can easily be set by software. 2.2.1.10 Module design more flexible The system supports the module with 1to 16 scan numbers and greater resolution. 2.2.1.11 Design guidance and design service of LED module It provides the design guidance and design service of LED module to help users to achieve better effect. 2.2.2 Better Watching Effect and Shooting Effect 7

2.2.2.1 High refresh rate The 9705X and 97059 series chips, use the unique Smart-PWM technology to provide the refresh rate more than 8 times. 2.2.2.2 High brightness depth The 972X series constant current driver chips, have the unique function of "according to the column to step by step quickly open". For the static LED screen, the brightness depth can be reached 65536. For the 8 scans LED screen, the brightness depth can be reached 8192. It can make the LED display to have sufficient contrast in each brightness levels. 2.2.2.3 Support the high-performance display mode of 97059-chip The 97059 chip has higher display refresh rate than 9705 chip, with the new constant current driver it can achieve higher-brightness depth. 2.2.2.4 Color rendition The system can make the color coordinate of any color same with the measured color coordinate from CRT. Thus, perfect to restore the original design effect of Video. 2.2.2.5 Multiple main-controllers synchronization System ensures that the multiple main-controllers can adjust the screen brightness, color and other parameters at the same time. 2.2.3 Easy to Use 2.2.3.1 Integrated play and control platform LED Manager 2010 software, version 8.0.0 and above, the software has the powerful play and control functions, with it you can complete the system settings simply and quickly. 8

2.2.3.2 Brightness adjustment System supports the brightness adjustment with 100 levels, supports the timing adjustment and environment self-adaption. 2.2.3.3 Real-time adjustment of gamma curve System provides eight optional commonly used gamma curves to meet the needs of different environments. 2.2.3.4 Color temperature adjustment Enter the measured values of each base colors. The software automatically calculates the three-color contrast and makes the screen to quickly and accurately achieve the desired color temperature. 2.2.3.5 Color adjustment System uses the appropriate adjustment method, which meet the performance market need, to adjust the screen color. 2.2.3.6 Color adjustment You can adjust color and brightness curve in main control interface. It is easy for customers to set and check the hardware device status, applies to the rental market. 2.2.3.7 Centralized control of multiple main-controllers It is easy for customers to configure multiple main-controllers. 2.2.4 High Reliability 2.2.4.1 Check device status You can use the management software to check the status of entire system configuration, version information and the connection structure. The software could real-time get system information about communication error status and error location to help you to detect the fault location in time. 9

2.2.4.2 Remote monitoring You can check the system status and determine the system failure status, by remote network. 2.2.4.3 Module fault self-test & Active fault report You can use the management software to check the status of each module configuration, version information and the connection structure. The software could real-time get module information about communication error status and error location to help you to detect the fault location in time. 2.2.4.4 LED fault report You can use the management software to check if each LED lamp is working properly. 2.2.4.5 Environmental monitoring of cabinet You can use the software to check the temperature, humidity, fan and power supply state of each cabinet. 2.2.4.6 Temperature control of cabinet You can use the software to control the fan and heating of each cabinet. 2.2.4.7 Redundancy communications backup Any one channel or cabinet failure will not affect the other cabinet display in system. 2.2.4.8 Error correction of communication redundancy Any problems of communication lines between controllers don t affect the cabinet display. 2.2.4.9 Module redundancy Any problems of communication lines between modules don t affect the module display. 10

2.2.4.10 System failure warning Count communication error occurs in the system; tells location of potential communication error intelligently. 2.2.4.11 System power warning Monitor state of power supply, tells location of potential power failure intelligently. 2.2.5 Easy to repair and maintenance 2.2.5.1 System backup and restore All the setting of the system can save to files, when the hardware or software has changed, you can restore them with these files. 2.2.5.2 On-line upgrade firmware Programs of transmitting cards and receiving cards can be update by LED Manager 2010, convenient update and certification operate of LED display, if update is fell you can repeat operate and update them again. 2.2.5.3 Named controllers and system auto replay When a device has been changed, no need of named a new one, you can restore its settings by software, lower demand of repair engineers. 2.2.5.4 Quick lightness uniformity correction It designed for leasing field which have several batches of units or have changed units. You can correct the area difference of the units or cabinets by a camera. 2.2.5.5 Assistant indicator changing note Software control controllers and LED indicators of units, make repairing in the LED display easily. 11

2.2.5.6 Production and use information note of the controller Directly get the production and use information note of the controller. Make sure we can look up the history of the controller when LED displays failure. 2.2.5.7 Correct data store in units Lightness and color data store in unit ports, no need to correct when change units, lower demand of maintenance engineers. 2.2.5.8 Quick color uniformity correction It designed for leasing field which have several batches of units or have changed units. Section 3 Solution applications Single transmitting card can supports 1280 1152@ 60Hz. So we usually use the single transmitting card solution for the normal screen. 3.1 Typical applications Fig. 3-1 typical single transmitting card application Solution Description: See Fig. 3-1, unit 1 is a computer, unit 2 is a transmitting card, unit 3 are receiving cards, and unit 4 is an environment detector. Transmitting card has two output ports: U and D ports. The transmitting cards are connected serially and you can access the Environment Detector in U or D ports. Environment detector can monitor the environment brightness, temperature and humidity in real time for each LED screen. Each port of the transmitting card can cascade 200 receiving card units at most. Features: This system is simple and flexible. It can set the screen brightness automatically according to the current environment which is measured by an 15

environment detector. So the system can make the LED screen always keep in the best working condition. 3.2 Redundancy replication application Fig. 3-2 single transmitting card port redundancy replication Solution Description: See Fig. 3-2, unit 1 is a computer, unit 2 is a transmitting card, unit 3 is receiving cards, and unit 5 is a photoelectric converter. The units are connected with unshielded twisted pair (CAT-5E) up to 100 meters; if the transmitting distance is more than 100 meters, we suggest to use optical fiber in transmitting, that means using the unshielded twisted pair to connect between unit 3s and to link between the last / first unit 3 and the photoelectric converter, and optical fiber is used only between unit 5s. The transmission distance of multimode fiber is 500 meters and the transmission distance of single mode fiber can reach to 10 kilometers. The transmitting card has two output ports port U and port D, which can back up each other. The transmitting card respectively transmits the date from port U or port D to the receiving card port A or port B. So when one transmission line has some problems, another line can back up instantly, the screen can still display in normal, this is the redundancy function. It should be noted that the redundancy function is based on the 16

output of transmitting card, if the transmitting card went wrong, the screen may display in error. Solution feature: The system supports long distance transmission, and has redundancy function, when one of the signal transmitting pathways is in error, the system can automatically switch to the other pathway, to ensure that the LED screen display keeps in normal, so that the system is more reliable. 3.3 Correction application Fig. 3-3 Correction Application Solution Description: See Fig. 3-3, unit 1 is computer, unit 2 is transmitting card, and unit 6 is SLR camera. Receiving cards are assembled in every cabin of the LED screen. The camera should be fixed on tripod and then take photographs. Solution feature: After correction, brightness uniform of the LED screen is improved. Solve the inhomogeneity of the LED screen caused by discrete of LEDs. V9A01 solution has the advantage of fast correction, easy to operate, and no loss of 17

brightness in most of gray levels. Another one is that the uniform of the LED screen wouldn t decline when changing position of cabins. 18

Section 4 Feature 4.1 Data source input Support all the VESA stander display module in SXGA 75Hz adaptive Support DVI and HDMI input 4.2 Frame frequency self-adaptive The frame frequency of the data source self-adaptive 4.3 The LED display pixel supported Supports two-color real pixel screen, three-color real pixel screen and four-color virtual pixel screen. Supports all color forms of four-color virtual pixel. Support different pixel types with the same transmitting card, the only thing we need to do is to reconfigure the parameter of the pixel type in the software LED Manager instead of modification of the logic program. If the pixel type of four-color virtual is in use, you can use LED Manager to reconfigure pixel type and set it to real pixel or virtual pixel. The same transmitting card can be shared by the screens with different pixel types. 4.4 Screen connection mode supported Line control mode is supported 4.5 Long distant transmitting GTP port supports single UTP5E as transmission medium, transmission distance less than 100 m. GTP port connects to gigabit media converter directly; choosing single-mode fiber or multimode fiber according to different distance between converters. 4.6 Control mode of the system Communication with the PC through USB port. Please use A/B type USB cable, the port A connects PC; port B connects the transmitting card. System parameters can be configured by LED Manager. When power-down, the 19

configured parameters can be kept. After power resumes, the system restore automatically to the state before power-down. 4.7 Detect fault of interface All data transfer protocols of the hardware contain checking messages. All hardware and 97059 chips can check the correctness of the input data. 4.8 The adjustment of Low gray curve Support the function of low gray curve correction Optimization algorithm reduces the unstable screen vision of low gray pictures. 4.9 Custom gray curve Provide varies gray curves to fit the requirements of environment. 4.10 Multi-mode of brightness correction Three modes can be chosen by LED Manager: manual, timing, auto brightness correction The system has the function of adaptive ambient brightness on two conditions. One condition is to choose auto brightness correction by LED Manager 2010; the other is to connect the system with an Environment detector. 4.11 Support large screen Provide general and super large screen manager tools, which support the system with several transmitting cards, thus to control super large screen. 4.12 The maximum pixel number through a single port on the conditions of the frame frequency is 60HZ and without any data packet lost. In three-color mode When the frame frequency is 60HZ and without any data packet lost, the maximum pixel number it supports is 650,000 for real pixels In virtual mode When the frame frequency is 60HZ and without any data packet lost, the maximum pixel number it support is 650,000 for virtual pixels 20
