Update 2008 Cable Management for Laboratory Workstations

Systematic order. The new Elabo Cable Management System for Laboratory Workstations Flexibility, adaptability and system consistency have always been features of Elabo products. While keeping a close watch on the market and an ear open for our clients needs, our aim is to match the functionality of our furniture to changing demands and also to combine state-of-the-art technology with practical and appealing design. The market has approved our approach: Elabo products continue to be market leaders and client satisfaction is increasing steadily. The new Elabo Cable Management System, for which a patent is pending, enjoys utility model protection and satisfies the desire to have a spacious and tidy workstation. Many well thought-out details make it possible to completely redesign laboratory workstations. These details are just as ingenious as they are hidden, and that s what makes them so good! The cable rack in the Orga-Panel, for example, helps to guide the cables precisely from the device to the measuring point without the cables crossing over each other or interfering with the actual measurement set-up. At another point, the cable organizer ensures tidiness in the cable channel, thus guaranteeing separate guidance of the wires of power supply and data networks and preventing mutual interference. Elabo has also taken into consideration the many adaptations and adjustments that are needed in the working world. For example, it is possible at any time to add cables and small devices or also to replace existing ones. This can all be accomplished without using any tools. 2

A simple principle - like all good ideas! 1 2 The Elabo cable management system uses new flap technology and a cable organizer that is integrated into the cable channel. 3 4 1 2 3 The covering flap opens forwards and, when lifted up, disappears completely into the underlying cable channel. Devices that extend over the covering flap do not have to be moved aside in order to open the flap. The brush strip makes it possible to pass cables through easily and without kinking. The socket strip provides an optimal power supply to the electrical devices in the cable trough as well as on the work table. 5 4 5 The cable organizer consists of separate fabric pouches. This is where surplus cables can be stored simply and in an orderly fashion. Individual lengths of cable can be withdrawn as and when required without any tangling. The cable channel still offers plenty of spare space also for running cables through to connect up rows of tables. 3

The cable organizer The cable organizer is arranged in a large cable trough under the perimeter of the cable flap at the rear of the table. It consists of several fabric pouches that are suspended separately in a corresponding bracket and can thus also be individually filled and removed. The purpose of the organizer is to arrange, sort and store cables and wires that hang down from devices on the table. Or the devices may be power supply units, because socket strips can be integrated into the cable organizer. Access to the cable organizer is extremely simple because the cable flap on the table can be opened from the front, using completely new technology. Organize things once, and they will always stay tidy! The cable channel The channel for the cable organizer is 370 mm deep and thus deeper than conventional channels (110 mm). It has always been possible to link Elabo tables together simply by cables and to run the cables and wires from table to table. The inclusion of the cable organizer still allows the cabling to be run without any problems, but offers the additional benefit of being able to store further cables and wires in a tidy fashion and also to install socket strips if necessary. The socket strip The socket strip can be integrated into the cable channel or mounted under the Orga- Panel. 4 The cable channel flap The new InForm cable channel flap is a particular highlight. Thanks to new technology it can be opened simply and comfortably from the front side of the table. Even in the open position, the edge does not create any disturbing elevation but disappears under the perimeter of the table. As a result, devices can remain standing on the table. The flap technology makes it even less complicated to arrange cables tidily. Vertical cable channels Additional vertical channels for guiding the cables are available in broad and narrow design. The narrow vertical channel is mounted at the back on the InForm multigroove extruded aluminium section. The vertical channel is covered by brush strips through which the cables and wires can be passed in or out. The broad version is also provided with brush strips and is attached laterally on the InForm multi-groove extruded aluminium section. Large amounts of cable can be housed here without any problem.

Workstation light The workstation light is mounted below the table superstructure or below the basic support unit. The Orga-Panel Elabo has come up with something quite special in the case of this additional element: The Orga-Panel is a lockable drawer located below the table superstructure. A patented cable rack is provided to hold the measuring wires in a fixed position. In addition, small parts can be safely stored in the drawer. The Orga-Panel is an important part of the tidy workstation. Wires that are led out to the front are protected by a brush strip from being damaged. A specially designed basic support unit is used to mount the Orga- Panel. The basic support unit is used to mount the Orga-Panel and is attached below table superstructures or shelf elements. Not only the Orga-Panel but also optionally and additionally (depending on the width of the table s uperstructure) a pivoting workstation light or socket strips can be attached here. The table edge The elegant new front edge of the tables is one of the obvious improvements to the laboratory furniture. This edge is made of black, low-flammable, hard PVC. It is removable and can therefore be replaced if need be. This increases the longevity and system intelligence of the Elabo laboratory furniture. The ergonomically shaped edge is anti-static and non-conducting. 5
