GE Energy Display Operating Instructions and Limited Warranty 49-50273 06-11 GE

GE energy display OVERVIEW The energy display provides you with the insight to make better energy decisions that will reduce your energy consumption and save you money. The energy display does this by communicating with your utility s Smart Meter to show your total energy consumption in kilowatt-hours (kwh) as reported to your utility. It also provides you with an estimate of the cost of that total energy (this estimate will vary from your actual bill because it is established on base pricing for electricity and does not include the taxes, surcharges and recovery fees added by your utility when it calculates your monthly bill). Use the energy display to become better educated about your home energy consumption. Measure a device s power and approximate cost to operate with the energy display while you experiment turning electricity-consuming devices on and off in your home. Also use it to track your daily approximate energy consumption as you work towards your energy savings goals. Knowledge of your energy consumption and the related costs of operation can assist you in making better choices about how to spend your energy dollar. Before you begin Read these instructions completely and carefully. For your safety Read and observe all information in this manual. Note to Consumer Keep these instructions with your Quick Start Guide for future reference. Completion time about 15 minutes.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS warning: RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK OR FIRE. MAY CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DEATH. Operate this device/power supply only at the specified voltage and frequency as indicated on the product label. When connecting or disconnecting the AC Adapter, always hold it by its sides. Keep fingers away from the metal part of the plug. This device/power supply should not be opened for any reason. No user-serviceable parts are located inside the device. This device/power supply is not intended for use in bathrooms, laundry areas, or similar indoor high humidity locations. Keep this device/power supply away from all liquids. Unplug power supply from this device before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning. NOTICE: This device/power supply shall only be used for its intended purpose as described in this Owner s Manual. Never force a connector into the micro-usb port. If the connector does not attach with a reasonable amount of force, they do not match. Verify the connector matches the port and that it is oriented correctly. During standard use of this device, it is normal for the case to get warm. The case functions as a cooling surface that transfers heat from inside the unit to the cooler air outside. The only way to turn off power to this device is to unplug power supply. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Connecting your Energy Display Your energy display can be connected to either an AMI Zigbee Smart Energy Meter or to a GE Nucleus energy manager. A series of on-screen prompts will lead you through the connection process. To connect your energy display to a GE Nucleus energy manager, please use the desktop software included with the Nucleus and follow the detailed instructions. Energy Display Instructions The energy display is equipped with two push-buttons and a rotating wheel for menu navigation. Press the lower button to select, the upper button to cancel a selection, and rotate the wheel to navigate between screens and items. BACK SPIN SELECT The Current Usage screen allows you to view how much money you are spending on energy right now. You can view the information in either dollars per hour or kilowatts by changing a toggle button on the set-up screen. Your current energy rate information is displayed in the bottom, left corner. If you are enrolled in a time-of-use pricing program, you will see 4 colored boxes (green, yellow, orange, and red) which correspond to a low, medium, high or critical energy price.

Energy Display Instructions (continues) The History - Day screen lets you view the rate at which you are spending money throughout the day along with the day s total dollar consumption. You can view the information in either dollars per hour or kilowatts by changing a toggle button on the set-up screen. You can view other day s usage by highlighting the date with the select button (lower left) and rotating the dial to see different days.
