This year we asked our friends and family a few questions about Christmas. This is what they said. Why is Christmas important to you? Janek: Because I can eat so much food! Iga: Christmas is a beautiful time for me. It is great! Iga s Dad: Christmas is a special time to spend with our close family. We sit together, eat typical Christmas dishes and sing Christmas carols. Martyna s Mum s Friend: I have only one New Year s Resolution. I would like to learn to listen to people and to talk less, because I am a terrible talker and I can t listen to anyone. Julia s Dad: I have a lot of New Year s Resolutions. The biggest one is to get back to running half marathons. Janek: I always spend Christmas with my family. Movie Club Review The last movie we watched during Movie Club was the film "Cast Away starring Tom Hanks, Helen Hunt, and Nick Scary. It was produced and directed by Robert Zemeckis. The film depicts Fed Ex employee, Chuck Nolad, who is stranded on an uninhabited island after his plane crashes in the Atlantic Ocean. I think the film is very funny and very realistic. Author: Marcin Stępień Reading Club Review Forrest Gump is a book written by Winston Groom in 1986. The novel is about a mentally disabled man with an IQ of only 75. It tells a story of his life, from his childhood (when he was unable to have a correct posture and needed to wear braces) until the death of his mum, and Jane the girl he was in love with. The background of Gump s story are important events which happened in America (the Vietnam War, Hippie times) and important people (Richard Nixon, John Kennedy, John Lennon, Elvis Presley). Forrest Gump was called stupid but, at the same time, he was so very lucky that he was, somehow, always a hero of all the important events. That is the essence of this book: a naive and little intelligent guy with lots of luck: the Medal of Honor winner in Vietnam, the Ping-Pong champion, the shrimp boat captain, the millionaire stockholder in Apple computer company. I liked the book, and film even more. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry, but most of all, it makes you think. Think of life as of a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get. 3 So run Forrest, run! And I recommend that you, my dear readers: read this book, read! Author: Tymek Butrym

My favourite book My favourite book is Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. The author of the Percy Jackson series is Rick Riordan. The book is about a young boy, who is the son of a Greek god. He has a lot of adventures with his friends: the satyr Grover Underwood and Athena s daughter, Annabeth Chase. They went to Las Vegas, San Francisco, and many more interesting places. I like this book, because you can learn about Greek gods, places in North America, and fantastic things about our world. Author: Marcelina Rochowicz My favourite movie My favourite film is The Secret Life of Pets. According to me this film is funny and interesting. This film shows what animals do when their owners are not at home. In New York, in the high-rise, real animal life begins when their two legged guardians leave their flats in the morning. Meanwhile, animals visit each other, talk about their owners, and watch TV. One of these animals is Max, a dog. He loves his owner Katie very much. But the situation gets more complicated when Katie brings in a new tenant a big dog, Duke. The dogs do not like each other at first sight, but when they find themselves in the center of a dangerous city, they learn to work together, survive and finally return home. Author: Julia Knap 4

My life and my hobby Unihockey I go to a sports class at school. One of my favourite sports is unihockey floorball. I have been playing unihockey for two years. I usually play as defender. My friends from my class at school are on my team. We often compete in sport competitions. The match has two rounds. One round lasts 10 minutes. It is a game with five field players and a goalkeeper on each team. The typical equipment used in floorball are: a hockey stick, a plastic ball, and sport shoes. I like this sport so much because it is very interesting. Author: Martyna Galus Common Room The Common Room takes place every Friday from 3pm till 5 or 6 pm. It s a great place for Young Learners (Grades 1-3) to play and have fun in English. 5

JOKES AND FUNNY PICTURES What do you call a dog with no legs? It doesn t matter. He won t come anyway! Why do melons swim in the water? Because they re watermelons. Why did Adele cross the road? To say: Hello from the other side Two blondes and a brunette got stuck in an elevator. The first model starts to shout: -Help!!! The second model starts to shout: - Help!!! Suddenly the brunette says: - Girls, shout together, it will be louder! The blondes start shouting: -Together!!! Together!!! What do you call a cat in the desert? Sandy Claws!
