SCENE 1: WELCOME TO OUR SHOW! Track 1: MEDLEY (OPTIONAL) Time to get ready for the start of the show! The instrumental Medley welcomes the audience as the cast assemble, ready to begin the performance 4

SCENE 2: NAZARETH Children are gathered off-stage (either at the sides or the front of the stage area). Narrator 1: Narrator 1: Christmas is a very special time of year, and today we have a very special show all about magic words! (Impressed) Ooooo! Magic words that tell us the story of Christmas. And the first magic word is Nazareth. A Child holds up a large piece of card marked with the word NAZARETH! Narrator 2: (Confused) What s THAT got to do with Christmas?! Nazareth was a town far, far away - Mary and Joseph lived there, 2000 years ago. Mary and Joseph enter. Narrator 3: One day, angels from heaven visited Mary. Track 2: ON OFF MUSIC The Angels enter. Angel 1: Angel 2: We bring wonderful news. Mary s going to have a baby! 5

Track 3: MARY S HAVING A BABY Verse 1 Mary s having a baby, Mary s having a child. Mary s having a baby, Mary s having a child. Sway in time with the music. SCENE 3: THE ROAD TO BETHLEHEM Mary and Joseph are standing on one side of the stage. Narrator 4: The next magic word is Donkey. A Child holds up a large piece of card marked with the word DONKEY! Mary: Mary: (Confused) What s THAT got to do with Christmas?! (To Mary) We have to go on a very long journey. (To Joseph) How will we get there? We need a donkey. (Confused) A WHAT? A DONKEY! The Donkey enters. Donkey: Donkey: Did someone call?! (Pretending to be donkeys) Ee-or! (To Mary and Joseph) We should be going it s a LONG way! 7

Track 5: FOLLOW THE DONKEY Verse 1 Plodding to Bethlehem. Plodding to Bethlehem. Bob up and down in time with the music, with each alternative singer doing the opposite action. SCENE 4: NO ROOM AT THE INN Mary, Joseph and the Donkey are standing on one side of the stage. Narrator 1: The next magic word is Bethlehem. It was a very long way, so they were very tired when they arrived. Everyone yawns loudly. Mary: (To Joseph) We need to find somewhere to sleep. Track 6: ON OFF MUSIC The Innkeepers enter; Joseph crosses to them. Innkeeper 1: Hello! Have you got a room for the night? Sorry, we re full up. Try next door. Joseph moves on to Innkeeper 2. Innkeeper 2: Hello! Have you got a room for the night? Sorry, we re full up. Try next door. Joseph moves on to Innkeeper 3. Innkeeper 3: Hello! Have you got a room for the night? Sorry, we re full up. And there ISN T a next door! Joseph, Mary and the Donkey look very sad. 9
