SKY698- LNA Block Diagram RF_OUT S28 The SKY698- is an ultra Low-Noise Amplifier (LNA) intended for GHz, IEEE 82.ac/n wireless receiver applications. Its industry-leading Noise Figure (NF), together with high linearity, make it ideal as a first-stage LNA in IEEE 82.ac/n Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) radios. Operating with a single supply voltage, the SKY698- consumes only 2 ma of current. The device includes a bypass mode for near field applications and to save power when the receiver is inactive. The tiny package footprint of the SKY698-, requiring only four external components, enables the industry s smallest PCB area needed to implement a fully-matched GHz LNA. A block diagram of the SKY698- is shown in Figure. The device package and pinout for the 6-pin Quad Flat No-Lead (QFN) are shown in Figure 2. LNA_EN/BYPASS 6 VCC RF_IN 2 RF_OUT GND GND S282 Figure 2. Technical Description The SKY698- is fully matched at Ω and requires only a simple bypass circuit on pin 6 (VCC). The bypass/shutdown mode is achieved by switching the LNA_EN signal (pin ) to V. Package and Handling Information Instructions on the shipping container label regarding exposure to moisture after the container seal is broken must be followed. Otherwise, problems related to moisture absorption may occur when the part is subjected to high temperature during solder assembly. The SKY698- is rated to Moisture Sensitivity Level (MSL) at 26 C. It can be used for lead or lead-free soldering. For additional information, refer to the Skyworks Application Note, Solder Reflow Information, document number 26. Care must be taken when attaching this product, whether it is done manually or in a production solder reflow environment. Production quantities of this product are shipped in a standard tape and reel format. Electrical and Mechanical Specifications Signal pin assignments and functional pin descriptions are described in Table. The absolute maximum ratings of the SKY698- are provided in Table 2. The recommended operating conditions are specified in Table and electrical specifications are provided in Table. Performance characteristics for the SKY698- are illustrated in Figures through 9. An application schematic diagram for the SKY698- is shown in Figure. The PCB footprint drawing for the SKY698- is provided in Figure. Typical part markings are shown in Figure 2. The package dimensions for the 6-pin QFN are shown in Figure, and the tape and reel dimensions are provided in Figure. Table. There is no damage to device with only one parameter set at the limit and all other parameters set at or below their nominal values. Exceeding any of the limits listed here may result in permanent damage to the device. CAUTION: Although this device is designed to be as robust as possible, Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) can damage this device. This device must be protected at all times from ESD. Static charges may easily produce potentials of several kilovolts on the human body or equipment, which can discharge without detection. Industry-standard ESD precautions should be used at all times.
