WORK LIGHT PRODUCTIONS presents THE ANT and the ELEPHANT A new musical based on the beloved children s classic by BILL PEET From the creative team of The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley comes The Ant and the Elephant, a new family musical about the power of one good deed. From Dumbo to 101 Dalmatians, Bill Peet was one of Walt Disney's greatest storymen, responsible for illustrating, storyboarding and producing many of the greatest animated features of all time. His books have brought storytelling to children for over 40 years, and now The Ant and the Elephant, the musical, brings Peet's unique version of this Aesop fable to life on stage.

Story Synopsis A tiny ant finds himself in trouble stranded in the middle of a river clinging precariously to a blade of grass. A turtle wanders by, and although he could easily rescue the poor ant, he declines to help. The turtle soon falls into troubles of his own and just as he refused to help the ant, the turtle s pleas for help are also ignored. And so begins a cycle of misfortune and misdeeds that is not broken until the kindly elephant arrives providing help to all in need. But the elephant has a different problem: pride, Everyone has his troubles. Everyone but big me. I'll never get into a fix where I need help. Sure enough, misfortune befalls the big elephant. Will anyone remember his good deeds and return the favor? The most unlikely of heroes proves that one good turn definitely deserves another. Aesop s Fables The Ant and the Elephant is inspired by the popular Aesop fable The Ant and the Dove. Following in the tradition of Aesop s Fable this story personifies animals with human characteristics, weaving a simple but powerful message of moral choices. The moral lessons in The Ant and the Dove are: One good turn deserves another, and the smallest among us can prove the most powerful. For more information about this Aesop fable, go to: http://www.aesopfables.com/aesopsel.html About Bill Peet AUTHOR, ILLUSTRATOR and FILM MAKER 1915 2002 Bill Peet wrote and illustrated more than 30 books for children which have been praised by parents, teachers, librarians, and children because they make reading fun and teach positive values.
