Tale o Contents / Perormance Notes Drum It Up / : All parts should pay close attention to dynamics and to keeping the pulse steady The suspended cymal should e played with drum sticks Crashes are produced y hitting the edge o the cymal with the shoulder o the stick The sections played halway etween the edge and the ell should e played with the tips o the sticks At etter A, the snare drum can move rom the to the edge to help with the decrescendo parts Actin atin / 1: 9 The hand drum part can either e played on a conga (preerred) or any similar large drum The staccato marks notate a muted sound played y hitting the drum with a lat hand in the middle o the head Notes marked with an o are open tones; these are played y hitting the edge o the drum To play the pattern, play a muted tone with the let hand eave the let hand on the drum Hit an accented note with the right hand on the edge o the drum Play another muted tone with the let hand, then lit the let hand o the drum or the open tones Throughout the rest o the piece, all unmarked notes should e conred open tones The drum parts should e careul not to overpower the mallet melodies The maracas should e played with short, controlled strokes to make sure the rhythm is clearly articulated Snare lair / 1: 1 The spins in mm - should e simple or the right hand, spin the tip o the stick in a clockwise motion along the horizontal plane y turning the wrist over, releasing the ack three ingers (leaving the ulcrum), and then returning to playing position Do the same or the let hand, except in a counterclockwise motion I this is too diicult, other visuals can e sustituted or those two counts, including a sticks in/sticks out visual Get creative!
