VII INTERNATIONAL MUSIC COURSE IN VALLDEMOSSA - CÁTEDRA CHOPIN - DATES AND LOCATION The course will be set in Valldemossa (Majorca) from the 18 th until the 22 nd of July of 2017. It will take place in Museo Fréderic Chopin y George Sand (Cartuja of Valldemossa, where the Associació Festivals Chopin is located), the Music School and the Primary School of Valldemossa. OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE The course is addressed to students of elemental, degree students, postgraduates and teachers. The purpose is to give the opportunity to participate in an intensive work program to develop and improve their practical and theoretical knowledge, assist to lectures, concerts, participate in auditions and enjoy the coexistence with students and teachers from different countries in an incomparable place like Valldemossa, evoking the spirit and work of Chopin. PROFESSORS CHIN CHUAN CHANG Pianist, Dr. Chin-Chuan Chang, is currently a professor at the National Taipei University of Education. After his studies in Taiwan, he was selected as one of the students of the "gifted child program" of the Minister of Education from Taiwan to study at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid in Spain where he studied with Fernando Puchol and Solomon Mikowsky. Then, with Donn Alexandre Feder obtaining his Master of Music degree at the Manhattan School of Music and his
Doctor in Music Arts at the University of Cincinnati under Wiliam Black. Chin Chuan Chang is a winner of several international competitions (Barcelona, Salerno, Santander, Bergen, Manhattan, Los Angeles ). NELSON DELLE-VIGNE FABBRI The Italian virtuoso Nelson Delle-Vigne Fabbri was born in Argentina, where he was instructed by Magda Tagliaferro, Claudio Arrau and Georgy Cziffra. In addition to his performing and recording career, Nelson Delle-Vigne Fabbri is also a famed international piano pedagogue. He is a professor of piano at the Ecole Normale Alfred Cortot in Paris, and has also been appointed professor extraordinaire at the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth in Belgium. He gives frequent masterclasses in France, USA, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Greece. Cultural and pedagogical broadening is an important goal of his duties as general director of the Bell Arte Foundation. Mr. Delle-Vigne Fabbri is also the artistic director of MUSIC-a Braine l Alleud, the Paris International Summer Sessions and of the EMS Music Group. He is usually invited to international piano competitions as jury member.
PIOTR FOLKERT Piotr Folkert is widely regarded as one of the most gifted and sensitive pianists performing today. His stellar technique and insightful interpretations have won him consistent critical acclaim and enthusiastic audiences worldwide, whether for his solo recitals, his orchestral engagements or his growing catalogue of recordings. His broad repertoire ranges from music of the Baroque period to new works of contemporary composers, with some especially commissioned and written for him. His performing schedule regularly takes him to the great concert stages of North America and has been highlighted by frequent engagements at the Carnegie Hall. Internationally, he has appeared in cultural capitols of Europe, Australia and Far East. BARTOMEU JAUME BAUZÁ Born in Llucmajor (Mallorca). He is a professor at the Conservatory of Music of Valencia. He has performed in many major venues and
festivals in Spain, France, Italy, Argentina, USA, Mexico, Romania, Argentina, England, etc. in piano recitals, chamber music and as a soloist with orchestra. He has recorded twenty CDs with works of Asencio, Palau, Mas Porcel, Joan Maria Thomas, etc. He has taught several courses in interpretation and has been invited as a member of jury of numerous international piano competitions. He holds a PhD from the University of Valencia and is academician of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos. VICENÇ BALAGUER Born in Benaguasil (Valencia), he is a violin professor at the Conservatory of Music of Valencia and guest professor at the Conservatory of Music of the Balearic Islands. He is a regular guest concertmaster of the Symphony Orchestra of Navarra, Barcelona Symphony and Catalonia National, and the orchestras of Valencia, Madrid, Tenerife, Galicia, Castilla y Leon, Cadaqués and concertmaster-founder of the Collegium Instrumentale Valencia. He teaches at the National Youth Orchestra of Spain, Catalonia National Youth Orchestra, Youth Orchestra of Valencia, and the Orchestra of Joves Intèrprets dels PaÏsos Catalans.
SMERALD SPAHIU Born in Tirana (Albania), since 1996, he is concertmaster of the Orquestra Simfònica de Balears and during this period of time he has done in intense orchestral and chamber work. As soloist, he has performed compositions by Mendelssohn, Mozart, Sibelius, Brahms, Wieniavski, Bruch, Beethoven, etc. He has recorded Antoni Torrandell's Symphony for violin and orchestra, likewise some Paganini's works for violin and guitar. He has performed in the Balearic Islands, Girona, Madrid, Darmstadt, Perpignan, Copenhagen and New York. He has collaborated as guest concertmaster with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga, Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, Orquestra Simfònica del Vallés and the Camerata Sa Nostra. He has been collaborator professor of orchestral repertory at the Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Balears and teacher of the Orquestra Jove de Castelló. ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS The organization offers the possibility to stay at the Casa de las Religiosas Pureza María de Valldemossa from the 18 th to the 22 nd of July (http://www.pmaria-valldemossa.org/). The prize is 120 for the 4 nights. It includes breakfast and use of the facilities. The stay before the 18 th or the night of the 22 nd has to be requested in the application form to be confirmed. We also offer the possibility of having lunch and dinner from Tuesday until Saturday for 100 Euros in total. Meals consists in a two course menu, dessert and water at the restaurant Ca n Pedro. APPLICATION The application deadline is the 31 th of May. Space is limited. To register, you have to fill in the registration form and send it by e-mail t o catedrachopin@festivalchopin.com. In case of under-age, the father/mother/tutor has to fill in an authorization accepting the participation of the student to the course and exempting the organization from civil responsibility. The registration in the course implies the cession of the image rights of the student to use it on media. In case you don't want it, communicate it writing it on the observations of the registration form. Once received all the documentation, the organization will confirm that the student has been accepted. After that, the student has to pay all fees (registration, accommodation and lunch if it is required) by bank transfer and send a copy of the receipt among the next 15 days.
