Be sure to do your very best work and answer all parts of the assignment completely and thoroughly. Setting: Setting is extremely important to a novel. It is the time and place a story occurs. There may be one main setting throughout the novel, or several settings throughout. In a well organized paragraph of at least 5 sentences, please describe the setting(s) of your novel Please find two passages directly from your book that the author uses to describe the setting. Please include a page number to go along with the passage. Passage #1: (page number ) Passage #2: (page number )

What is the main conflict in your summer reading book? Remember, a conflict can be man vs. man, man vs. self, man vs. nature, and man vs. society. In a well written paragraph, explain the conflict, as well as who is involved, and at least two steps that they are taking to solve the conflict throughout the course of the book. The climax of a novel is the turning point, or greatest point of interest. After the climax, nothing is ever the same again. What is the climax of your summer reading book? Please write a complete and thorough paragraph with at least 3 details/reasons for why you chose this event as the climax of your book. _

The theme of a piece of literature is the moral or message that the author wants the reader to understand after exploring the book. For example, a common theme is, Do not judge people without getting to know them. Another common theme is Hard work pays off. Without using the two themes listed above, come up with your own theme for your summer reading novel. Be sure to state your theme, and then explain in a complete and meaningful paragraph three specific reasons why you chose this as your theme. _ The resolution of the novel is the conclusion, or the time when the reader finds out if the conflict is resolved, or not resolved. In a well written paragraph, explain the ending of your summer reading book, and be sure to explain whether or not the conflict is resolved, or not resolved. _
